I'm trying to write a letter to the times we live in. The times that you, I and everyone we know or meet are going through. These are times like no other in our lifetimes.
A time when hunger, torture, poverty, injustice and genocide are as common as when we were children.
But what makes these times so much harder to live with is the vile extremes of religious divide that compel believers to carry out acts of such brutal violence as to make a mockery of what human life should be…

I am a Catholic school teacher. I am an atheist.
I value honesty as one of the most important moral virtues in life. Yet, I live and breathe dishonesty for 7+ hours a day 5 days a week. I cringe when I walk past the kindergarten classroom and hear, “The reason animals aren’t special and you are is because YOU are made in the image of God.” I bite my tongue when a high school girl says she’s writing a paper on how cohabitation prior to marriage decreases marriage’s “sanctity.” I mumble…

naturally the human brain and body are made to exist with other being other anomalies and such things
we can adjust to just about everything .
coexistence is not a new thing . we as humans have learned to live with such things as other race other genders other religions other species .
but have we ever really learned how to live with ourselves the foreign matter of our mind
coexisting with depression is the struggle i have had since before i could even remember .…

I deleted the other blog posts because I soon realized that I had gone off on a massive tangent. So I'll explain how I got to where I am as briefly as possible to give context to my conundrum. I had to leave home at a young age and had my high school diploma mailed to a P.O. box. I headed out to California and from there, moved to Japan. I lived and worked in a restaurant owned by an abusive man with a family held financially prisoner to the restaurant and thus him. I also started fighting…

Only something as actively ignorant as religion could come up with the concept of men giving birth to women. It takes a keenly stupid mind to look upon the biology of mammals across the globe and come to the conclusion that in the instance of humanity above all other creatures, man came first, birthed women into existence and then passed the buck on to her along with the pain of childbirth. Mixed in with this slight, also comes the dominion over women because of the belief that gods created…

I'm not usually one to burden a stranger with my problems. Nor am I keen on sharing personal information with, anyone really. But it was suggested to me by an associate of a colleague to start a blog. I think my life is fairly interesting. I do not however think it a good use of another's life to read about my own unless there is some point to it. I kept a journal once, long ago. However, once I looked back on any previous entry I was incredibly disappointed with my past self and dearly…

It's been months since I posted here but now that my personal life has reached a sort of equilibrium again, I have more mental energy. I hope things haven't changed that much on TA. TA is six years old!? Woot, woot!!

I work in a very religious, but also very geek-friendly, area. Bad-with-the-good. While troubleshooting an issue today in a superior's office (whom I do not directly report to) religion somehow came up. I must point out that this guy is awesome, energetic, friendly, intelligent, but also very... well... conservative and "local". That's just what it is. So I respect him but at the same time, it's like every other religious conversation at work: I want to show my atheist colors, perhaps…

So, just to give you a little background on where I'm at in life, I am currently staying at a Christian-based homeless shelter in Washington Pennsylvania. I was arrested at the end of October 2013 for violating probation with drug charges that included a felony. I spent just over 9 months in the Washington County Correctional Facility and was released at the end of July of this year. Being that I burned all bridges in my addiction to heroin, I had no where to reside and the Washington City…
