How did it happen?
I live alone on 10 acres and I have lots of time to think and weigh out how the world got so crazy. I watch news and when I see people who are in the highest positions of power talking about "God" and how he influences their decisions my stomach churns and I go into a cold sweat. I don't know about you but to me its scary, real scary, Its to the point where I don't want to even go out of the property unless its a absolute necessity. Why are people who seem to have…Continue
I was just thinking randomly about the "Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil/Tree of Life"
Now I have a question.. If knowledge is frowned upon as evidenced by the punishments for seeking knowledge through the fruit on the tree (painful childbirth, banishment from the Garden of Eden, and work to sustain oneself, as well as automatic "sin" that we are born into) ~ shouldn't Christian stance be anti-education? I mean, it kinda sounds like thats what god was wanting right?? I'm not for…
Are you are now a non-believer in the religion you grew up with? Are you…Continue
Certainty is born of our best traits and sustained by the worst. Curiosity and wonder are the building blocks of all knowledge. When we learn about our world, our lives are enriched and the worth of our existence grows exponentially. We find meaning in the madness and it makes life worth living.

Had my hair blown back today by my Mom. She told my wife that she went to her methodist church minister and had her dog blessed and baptized. She says now she doesn't have to worry about what will happen to her beloved pooch after it dies. Huh?
Is this a common thing for widowed elderly women to do? I am troubled that she is losing perspective on what constitutes a healthy relationship with her pet. This dog is more important than anything or anyone at this point in her life. I own…Continue
there was a time when
Lennon is said to have muttered ironically
that The Beatles were bigger than
and yes, christian idiots,
i put “jesus” in quotes, leaving
The Beatles out of quotes,
because your “jesus” is a fictional character,
while The Beatles…Continue

You may have heard Michelle Bachman proclaim that Obamacare is the sign of the Apocalypse over the last 3 weeks. And a recent Reuters article clearly explained just what the F$%# is going on in the minds of the far right wing of the republican party. Basically it boils down to they see their culture their very way of life under attack. The religious right in this country sees America becoming less Christian, less white, less conservative, etc. As an Atheist I applaud this shift but believe…Continue

AN ANTIDOTE FOR AMERICA’S RELIGIOSITY!

Comedians, philosophers, priests, scientists, etc
"Enjoyable, interesting, infuriating and fun!"!
I would like to let your people know about it. See…Continue

If you’re anything like me you get excited about new possibilities and technologies, and your imagination gets very stimulated by thinking of future advances. This issue does just that for your braindbuds: we’ve created an homage to Brave New World with articles on operant conditioning, sleep-learning, reproductive technology and psychological manipulation. We’ve also got some great new scientific developments that are coming to fruition now or in the near future of 2014: Memristor…Continue

In the grand scheme of Christianity, The Ten Commandments are pointless.
If a serial killer can be allowed into Heaven simply because he repented right before his life came to an end, then Thou Shalt Not Kill doesn't mean sh*t as a commandment.
If every bad thing that we have ever done is wiped off of our records simply because we ask God for forgiveness, then commanding people not to kill or lie or steal is useless.
"Don't kill people...but if you do, just say you are…Continue
I come from a small town in Vermont. I was raised by small minds, in a small squalid trailer home with a small chance of success in life that I realized very early in Life. I had no childhood. Instead, Fear, Hunger, Sadness, Desperation and Isolation were my best friends. I learned quickly that in order to survive, I had to rely on myself and myself only. I was taught Catholicism despite the hypocrisy of my youth. Personally, I think it was just another excuse for my parents to extoll their…Continue
I’ve heard people talk about how coming free from Christianity set them free from fear. One blogger said she worried about demons; because even though her parents said Jesus would keep the demons away, that only worked if you “really” believed; and what young person wouldn’t be scared when told invisible powerful creatures that want to hurt you are real?
Then there’s the old fear of not being saved, no matter how many times you “confess” your sin and repent.
I don’t know if any…Continue
Yesterday, we got news that my (ex) Aunt died unexpectedly. She was undergoing radiation for cancer and started feeling poorly. They took her to the hospital and within a few hours she was dead. They're not 100% certain of what killed her but doctors think it may have been a blood clot. She was in her 30s.
She is survived by a small, close-knit family, her ex-husband (my biological uncle), and my 7 year old cousin. Although divorced, my Uncle was still in love with her, so he is…Continue
So you are probably wondering what the hell is an Atheist Cowboy. Well let me try to explain. I grew up loving the country. I love country music, riding horses, rodeos, and just generally the old west. I still love these things. I find them entertaining and fun. What people might not understand is how hard it is to love these types of things and be an atheist. The christians are like a locust at such events. Every type of these events is always started with prayers for safety of the…Continue

Thank you for existing, I have been a member for less than a day and I'm already proud and excited to be associated with such a great collaboration of (mostly) intelligent minds. Whoever runs and/or started this site, I would like to shake your hand and thank you in person, and if the opportunity presents itself, I will do so with gusto. Indeed, my point is not yet clear, I dislike the bullshit of social networking in most cases, blah blah, bitch bitch, but here people clearly express there…Continue
It seems like there is a real propensity for these church buses to go off course. Here's another.
Are the religious so feeble-minded that they cannot see that their imaginary friend doesn't alter reality?
