How many times have you heard ye old "if god had meant for us to (insert here), he would have (insert here)" cliche. I have more memories of this when I was younger but I still hear it from time to time. Now that I've reached, what George Carlin deemed "the age of reason", it sounds more asinine than ever.
If god meant us to..? Really? There's a Rage comic in there somewhere. What made me think of this is that I actually heard it recently, I think on TV and it made me chuckle.…

Could I have active members write just a Hi, Hello or go to Hell here? There are so many in-active members I would just like to get an idea of how many people actually read anything or write anything.
This was a thought i had ever since i was 10 (probably more),
I'm aware of christian demonology having a great amount of demons and infernal beasts, some (i'm aware) came from many religions, for example the most commonly used depictions from the devil (the goat with the trident and pentagram) has similarities with pan and neptune's trident from the roman/greek mythology, the pentagram i saw on discovery channel that was used as protection charm by christians until it was…Continue
When does it become okay to speak openly against religion?
I ask this hypothetically, because for atheists the answer is usually, "When you have the time."
But for theists it's usually along the lines of, "Never," or "Always, as long as it isn't OUR religion."
As an anti-religion atheist I get a lot of that weird flavor of pity, never understanding, just... "Well you just had a bad experience with religion."
It has some variety, sometimes it's directly aimed at…Continue
This is from a post on r/Atheism. A kid wrote a college essay on his atheism and sent it to his father to proofread. His father was unaware that he was an atheist. Below is the father's response. I only hope I can turn into such a loving and respectful parent for my two children as well.
Will, I didn't raise you to think like me. I raised you…
It seems the liberal Dutch are having second thoughts about their lax drug policies. The government is making a move to re-classify marijuana with high THC levels as a drug equivalent to cocaine and ectasy.
"The decision means most of the cannabis now sold in the Netherlands' weed cafes would have to be replaced by milder variants."…Continue
Parody (sort of):
America has hit upon a new way of dealing with its war veterans who have so faithfully served their country.
"We happened upon this quite by accident but its implications for cost saving to the nation are enormous"
said Oakland Chief of Police
"It has the advantage of being very cost effective, and even that small cost can be billed to the VA people. No more military pensions to pay out, and no more VA healthcare costs. Of course it also means…Continue

BOO!!!! Everyone's FB LIKE's, +1's and shares on Google+, your thumbs up on StumbleUpon, and your tweets on Twitter were positively horrifying! That you all find Sunday School ghoulish enough that you would want to share it with others makes me SCREAM!! It makes the time spent on putting each edition together absolutely blood curdling!! Spread the word. The information is out there. Let's get it into people's hands, and into their minds. Happy Halloween! ;););)
When I was making my guide of secular resources for parents, I wanted to compile a lengthy list of top notch children’s books that teach how to reason about the wold. Much to my chagrin, there was only a handful of solid material out there. It seemed as though book companies would rather churn out fifty books on…Continue

In my last post I mentioned the official first step towards atheism.
I have had difficulties with faith for as long as I can remember. My first crush was a woman (I was 5 and I thought her red hair was so beautiful I wanted to marry her.)
At 7 I asked if different languages can use different words for apples and oranges and not be wrong, couldn't the same go for God? (In case you don't know, the answer is usually "NO!")
At age 16 I had my first existential crisis, I gave…Continue
In response to Jebus-Ween, I propose the Pastafarian communities unite to spread the gospel of the FSM. I however think the Christians are going about it all wrong. We want to lure the children in with candy. Let them associate His Noodleness with treats and goodies, not false promises and disappointment. And of course, attached to each piece of candy is the real treat: A tract that preaches the Pasta in all its marinara glory! Let us not forget the adults! Invite them to join you for some…Continue

Interesting question posed to me during a stunted debate (I wasn't in the mood for another fight.)
The question was, "If you aren't a scientist why are you so convinced that they are telling you the truth?"
This of course was in reference to my atheism, so many things said to me these days touch upon the subject and really this is quickly becoming the place where I vent. I should start a countdown as to the moments left before I stop respecting their right to be religious and…Continue
When the darkness fades short,
and the new day is born.
What will the morning bring you?
will you have feeling of spite? pity? love? and such.
Only you will unravel the answer,
every day until the end of time.
Not every day until the end of time,
But every day until the end of your time.
When your legacy, memory, and dust are all that is left behind.
Having our nights of sleep let us recollect…

As time moves forward into the future we stand in the present watching
current events become the past, not much longer shall we last as the
end grows near to all that is living.
Birds die and rain down from the azure sky that encompasses our beings
forevermore until the end of time.
We wonder why,
Fish die and float to the top of the water that flows throughout our
world like the blood throughout our beings.
We wonder why,…

The Holiday where Christians will adorn their white robes to deliver salvation to the evil devil children Halloween by giving them Bibles instead of Candy.
It started yesterday when my Sister, who knows and hates that I’m atheist, asked me what I was doing for Halloween. Instantly I knew something…Continue
I'm.. Not good with introductions, but.. Here it is anyway, I'm Steven and I'm 18.. I've been an Atheist or at least doubtful of the existence of a god/gods since I was 14-15 years old, maybe even younger.. I've always loved science, and get a tingle inside when I look at the universe around us (and within us). I may be a slight hippy.. And "peace" is something I actually believe in, perhaps I'm being naive though. I should stop before this turns into a rambling…Continue
