It's a Relationship

You've probably heard the claim plenty of times: "Christianity is not a religion it is a relationship". Maybe the empty headed vacuousness of it made you want to scream? Maybe you've seen comparisons showing that if it is like any kind of relationship it is that between the abused and their abuser? Maybe you wondered if anyone actually believed it?

It seems… Continue

Taking The Bible Literally

I've heard a lot lately that most Christians in these modern times only believe that the stories in the bible are only parables to teach us how to live our lives. I don't believe that. I believe that with all of the details included in most of these stories, the bible really was intended to be taken literally. In Honor of National Death Month

And so, October is upon us again. Though the United States is largely divorced from its agricultural origins, for many, this month still marks the heart of harvest season. For the European ancestry that peppers many of our fellow citizens’ lines of descent, this earthly cycle of sowing, flowering, ripening, and reaping brought with it solemn reflection on the cycle of human life. Pagan Mythology in the Jesus Story

Here is one example of pagan myth and Babylonian star lore in the New Testament from my book. This excerpt describes the action in Mark chapter 5:

“As Jesus continued his trip in this quadrant of the zodiac, he drove a herd of demon possessed swine into the sea. Jesus and his apostles crossed the sea from Pisces and headed for Gadara (or Gerasa,) deep in the lower left quadrant of the sky chart. They found a man possessed with demons in a graveyard. Jesus casts his legion… Continue

PETA is Worse than Michael Vick

There are groups out there that care for animals. Ones that don't pay lip service to get attention, but actually stand behind their message. Take the NorthShore Animal League. They say they care about animals, then they show it by being a no kill shelter. If you are overwhelmed by your pet, they will take it and find it a new home. They will feed or house that animal as long as the animal is alive if need be. PETA has a catchy name, People for the… Continue

Blind Links are Bad.. Un Kay... From the Mods of TA

Think Atheist has a policy of No Teaser Posts listed in the Blog/Forum Guidelines. Sometimes this is referred to as Blind Linking. A Teaser Post is one where a poster writes one or two lines and says, "What do you think?" then links to another site for you to go read a story, or point. Recently, many of the discussions have become exactly that. While the topics have been good and the discussions have… Continue
