What are you going to regret some day?

Odds are its missing an opportunity.

Missing out on telling someone how you feel. Not taking that chance. Just because you thought it might end badly. You just let it pass you by because you were too afraid to not give it a real try.

Thats what you are going to regret some day.

I have done some things I wish I hadn't. Things that I think I would take…

Unanswed Prayers

I wasn't going to blog until I heard, just now, Glenn Beck making fun of Hitchen's throat cancer by mimicing his raspy voice and chuckling. Today is Pray for Hitchen's Day. I think it's a subtle way many Christians can gloat over his throat cancer while pretending they care.

Unanswerable Prayers

What’s an atheist to think when thousands of believers

(including prominent rabbis and priests) are praying

for his survival and salvation—while others believe…

The Meaning of Life

"I am not sure who wrote this, as the only place I was able to find this on the Internet was in a Reddit post by Shmeelkster, so until I am told differently, I am going to credit him/her as the author. Either way, it is a fantastic piece of work and if you ever run accross the need to answer a theists/creationist argument about there being no meaning… Continue

Today I got a t-shirt printed. On the front it says "Religions:they can't all be true..." and on the back it says "but they can all be false".I can't remember the name of the person who put up that saying but thanks to whoever it was anyway.

When I was walking to the printing shop I was getting a bit nervous because I was going with my dad and I never hinted about me being an atheist.I was worried he would treat me different when he knew what was going onto the t-shirt.There…

The Right Cannot Address Immigration

The political right has been making a lot of noise about illegal immigration. Consistently they blame the immigrants for the problem. This tactic does not address the source of the problem, nor is it consistent with right-wing thinking. This is a lighting rod issue. You'll be hard pressed to find someone openly not oppose illegal immigration from the right. But can the Republicans address illegal immigration? Not unless they want to cannibalize themselves. The Right loves to cite the Laffer… Continue

Idol Chatter

Of all the days of my 13th summer in Paskaloochee, none stands out so clearly as the day Bent Turner completely lost his mind. He had always been a little off; thus the name, Bent. What his true first name was I never bothered to ask. Bent he was to the town, the nomenclature applied with varying degrees of affection depending upon factors such as age, social status, or denominational affiliation. I say denominational rather than religious, for all in my hometown claimed kinship in the same… Continue

Atheists - The New Panda Bears

(note: This is a re-print of a blog from my own site. It is a response to a conversation that I had on Facebook with a very well-meaning Christian. You can definitely respond here but if you'd like her to see any comments then please see the link to the original blog at the bottom. The original has working links to the original sources - I didn't have time to re-format them for this blog).

You may not have known this but Panda Bears were the Bigfoots (that just sounds weird. I wanted… Continue

Confessions of an Atheist Homeschooler

Hello. My name is Atheist Mama, and I'm an atheist. I also homeschool my only child. When people hear the word "homeschool" the image that is frequently conjured is one of a mousy mother in a denim dress. Her 8 children, all perfectly scrubbed and tucked, sit around a big table and hold hands while prayer is said. People envision handwriting consisting of copying scripture and long lunches of tater-tot casserole.

Homeschooling is outside the norm. Having an only child is…

NC teen: Nose ring more than fashion, it's faith

RALEIGH, N.C. – A soft-spoken 14-year-old's nose piercing has landed her a suspension from school and forced her into the middle of a fight over her First Amendment right to exercise her religion.

Ariana Iacono says she just wants to be a normal teenager at Clayton High School, about 15 miles southeast of Raleigh. She has been suspended since last week because her…

debunking judaism and christianity with style

Hey guys,

i haven't written in the site for a really long time so now's a great time to start- and i've got some great links.

1. A truely eye opening book titled "Jesus and Christ, a lawyer's Commentary".

This 800 page book literally disassembales the new testament, going verse by verse, and critically…

Is religion the Cause why we are good?

I have few other articles that I need to complete and publish, but I want to skip them over for a while to answer an important point that a pious christian is trying to ask me via the Amazon Book review I made for, "The god Delusion", a book by R. Dawkins.

Are people good only because they strictly follow a Religion? This was the topic of chapter Six of Dawkins', “The god Delusion”, which he titled exactly, “The Roots of…

Does Protesting Religion Give It More Influence?

OK, here's something to think about. My boyfriend is not a religious person at all. However, he is of the opinion that religion helps some people, and he really doesn't see how it can do any harm. He thinks that all wars are fought because of physical things, like land or oil, and doesn't see how religion has any part in it. He thinks all abuse is done because people are sadists deep down, not because they're following the biblical instructions of discipline.

That's not a biggie.… Continue

"Kissing Hank's Ass" by James Huber (A duplicate post)

This is a comical parallelism of how religious devotees spread their faith onto other people. Read and have a laugh. There are apparently videos made out of this story in as well.

This morning there was a knock at my door. When I answered the door I found a well-groomed, nicely dressed couple. The man spoke first.

John: “Hi! I’m John, and this is Mary.”

Mary: “Hi! We’re here to invite… Continue

Sifting through carnage for the good news

As you probably know, my wife and I brought our first child into the world two weeks ago. We had quite a bit of trouble conceiving a child - if you need to laugh a little bit you can read about my trips to the clinic here.

What amazed me about this whole process was the reaction of several religious friends and family members along the way:

- Several family members said that a… Continue

The Search for Meaning and Purpose

So I think something that Atheist movement in America really lacks is an outlet or expression of what makes life beautiful or worth living.

In many ways, we can't have one big platform, because its different for every person.

For some people such as myself in my early 20s, you can really have trouble living without feeling like there is a meaning.

I know there is no "objective" meaning in life. The only meaning possible is always from a subjective point of… Continue

"Taking It Out On God"

Why do people assume something bad happen to me? Why do people assume that without god there is no happiness and you must be mad at god to be an Atheist? On several occasions I have encountered people who claim not to be religious or even Christan, but then say, referring to my being Atheist: " I feel so sorry for have been hurt...your angry and taking it out on god."

um, I can not be mad at something I do not believe exist. No one has wronged me so profoundly, I just… Continue
