http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/us_rel_piercing_churchRALEIGH, N.C. – A soft-spoken 14-year-old's nose piercing has landed her a suspension from school and forced her into the middle of a fight over her First Amendment right to exercise her religion.
Ariana Iacono says she just wants to be a normal teenager at Clayton High School, about 15 miles southeast of Raleigh. She has been suspended since last week because her…

I have few other articles that I need to complete and publish, but I want to skip them over for a while to answer an important point that a pious christian is trying to ask me via the Amazon Book review I made for, "The god Delusion", a book by R. Dawkins.
Prelude
Are people good only because they strictly follow a Religion? This was the topic of chapter Six of Dawkins', “The god Delusion”, which he titled exactly, “The Roots of… Continue

OK, here's something to think about. My boyfriend is not a religious person at all. However, he is of the opinion that religion helps some people, and he really doesn't see how it can do any harm. He thinks that all wars are fought because of physical things, like land or oil, and doesn't see how religion has any part in it. He thinks all abuse is done because people are sadists deep down, not because they're following the biblical instructions of discipline.
That's not a biggie.…

This is a comical parallelism of how religious devotees spread their faith onto other people. Read and have a laugh. There are apparently videos made out of this story in YouTube.com as well.
This morning there was a knock at my door. When I answered the door I found a well-groomed, nicely dressed couple. The man spoke first.
John: “Hi! I’m John, and this is Mary.”
Mary: “Hi! We’re here to invite…

As you probably know, my wife and I brought our first child into the world two weeks ago. We had quite a bit of trouble conceiving a child - if you need to laugh a little bit you can read about my trips to the clinic
here.
What amazed me about this whole process was the reaction of several religious friends and family members along the way:
- Several family members said that a…

So I think something that Atheist movement in America really lacks is an outlet or expression of what makes life beautiful or worth living.
In many ways, we can't have one big platform, because its different for every person.
For some people such as myself in my early 20s, you can really have trouble living without feeling like there is a meaning.
I know there is no "objective" meaning in life. The only meaning possible is always from a subjective point of…

Why do people assume something bad happen to me? Why do people assume that without god there is no happiness and you must be
mad at god to be an Atheist? On several occasions I have encountered people who claim not to be religious or even Christan, but then say, referring to my being Atheist: " I feel so sorry for you...you have been hurt...your angry and taking it out on god."
um, I
can not be mad at something I do not believe exist. No one has wronged me so profoundly, I just…

HIGHLIGHT THE PURPLE WORDS TO VIEW.
Does it matter if you vote or not since corporations can spend as much money as they want to buy any election? Are your cherished notions about truth and freedom mere illusions? Are you being suckered by both parties who are playing 'good cop-bad cop' with you?…

I was wasting time on the internet between classes when I was suddenly struck by a funny idea. Now, I don't know much about genetics, so someone correct me if I'm wrong, but if Jesus really was born through immaculate conception as christians claim, then wouldn't he have had to be a she? Since Mary was a woman and women don't have a Y chromosome, and God is supposed to transcend the physical realm (whatever the hell THAT means) and therefore doesn't have DNA, it seems that either Jesus was a…

This is another one of those blogs that came from a forum discussion, but I thought that it was important to me. I want to use my blog to not only blab about what my experiences are, but also where I stand on issues and my philosophies.

Care to attend a symposium on the
Geocentric Universe? Not only do we have people whom seriously advocate
Flat Earth, now we have people that say that the Sun goes around the Earth. Oh Good Lord!
In the 3rd century BC the first hypothesis of a Heliocentric Universe was proposed by Aristarcus of Samos. Copernicus developed a mathematical model in the 16th…

Well, the good thing is that my husband and I have been married for 6 years and we don't throw shit and scream at each other ;o). Today he felt the need to remind me of how good god is. I chose to ask him if he was talking about the same god that allows billions of his christians to suffer from diabetes, cancer and all kinds of diseases after he promised you guys he would heal you? I told him I dont believe or want to even acknowledeg a god like that.If his god is so real why doesn't he heal…

This came up in a forum discussion already; and probably many other discussions, but I thought I'd make it into a blog because it sums up my beliefs perfectly.
I celebrate "Christmas" three different ways....and I'm an Atheist!
I celebrate my parents version...Christ's bday.
then I celebrate my fiance's version...yule.
then I celebrate a secular version with my friends...about kindness.
I'd celebrate Kwanzaa and Hanukkah,… Continue

"Should" is Not a Good Reason to Restrain Free Speech
Much press and debate has been created due to Rev. Terry Jones announcement that he would burn a Quran, the holy book of Islam. Jones, of the Dove World Outreach Center in Gainesville, Florida, had planned to burn the book on the 9th anniversary of the September 11th, 2001 terrorist attacks. As of this writing, he has recanted his desire to ever burn a Quran and the deed went unfulfilled.
What it sparked has been a…

As long as I can remember, if you watched a sporting event, it was likely that you’d see John 3:16 on a sign. It was obligatory when I was a teen. The premise is simply believe in Jesus and you’ll get to heaven. Even
today, if you ask more than a handful of people, you’ll hear, “I’m a believer.”
as if that means anything. Let me be clear, it means nothing. Simple belief in
Jesus gets you nowhere. It smacks of the Scientologists pulling you in with…

Yes, after today 9/11/2010 life will still continue on. Even though that stupid horrible f 'ing magzine the globe(one of the worst magazines ever)., thinks that jesus is coming back on 9/11/2010. I won't be waiting around for jesus, since 1-i'm an atheist, and that's why I'm here on this site obviously, 2-there's no evidence outside the bible that jesus ever lived(and the supposed secular evidence is just christian appologetic bs). 3-why jesus coming back, why not krishna or any of the other…
