The Missing Years of Jesus
The Christian bible never tells anyone what happened to Jesus from when he was a kid to when the story picks back up at 33. So I have taken the liberty to making up a timeline of the missing years of Jesus. Enjoy!

Religion losing its grip on morality
Religion, especially in its organized form, has been losing popularity in Europe and North America for decades. Norway, Denmark, Holland, Sweden and Japan remain the least religious countries and amongst in their quality of living (here). Slowly religion’s self proclaimed moral…

Because the Bible Tells Me So: Why Bachmann and Tea Party Christians Opposed Raising the Debt Ceiling
Some of the worst brinksmanship in the debt ceiling fight was driven by the most far-right members of the GOP majority in the House of Representatives.
It's a deal not even its parents could love, but if Congress manages to pass the plan to lift the debt…

'You're in my prayers...'
When you run into a person that you haven't seen in, oh, say, 5-8 years and they tell you 'you're in my prayers all the time', do you think they are actually telling you the truth? Do you think they actually think of you and include you in their prayers whenever they pray?
Whenever I hear someone say this, I always have to think to myself "Hmmm... I think this person has prayers mixed up with thoughts". Or, maybe they see themselves as so very pious that they consider prayers and…

Why do religious people feel the need to comment on my Atheist posts?
I have almost 700 Facebook freinds. Obviously, not all of them are Atheists, as I am. What I find most interesting (and maddening!) is that I can sift through my friends' posts every day and see at least 10 that contain some sort of pro-religious statement, or piece of scripture, or an invitation to 'like' some religious/faith based group (the 'Bring prayer back to public schools' group comes to mind here), and I don't feel the need to make any comment, derogatory or otherwise, about any of…

Walmart gas station -god in advertising....
Murphy's is a gas station chain owned by Walmart. Today I pulled up a local one to fill up my motosickle.
In addition to the annoying gas additive commercials they try to subject you to they also have other commercials. What blares out of the speaker?
"God bless America. Captain America that is......"; it was a promo for the new action hero movie.
It's not a big deal but a little poke in my atheistic belly nonetheless.

Random Rant- Where is our no hate campaign
I wish more famous people would come out of the atheist closet. Maybe even at the very least spread the word of social tolerance. There are plenty of scientist, authors, and various scholars that are known atheist, but they aren’t relatable to most people. Once popular culture deems something socially acceptable it generally becomes accepted. Just think of how it once was not an issue to publicly bash gay people or use gay slurs. Where the hell is our no hate campaign? I wish someone with a…

Pakistan is like the United States? A new article sheds light on Pakistan's history and future direction.
In an excellent article entitled "The ideology of thought control in Pakistan", an examination of contemporary Pakistan and its history in relation to religion is laid out in an incredibly detailed yet easy to read essay. The article is from Dawn.com which is a 24 hour news source located in Pakistan.
As I read through the article, I could not help but feeling a sense that much of what that country has gone through and is…
