Religion Running Scared
I originally posted this at my blog Martin S Pribble, and it was subsequently picked up as an "Article" at RDFRS, which made me quite happy. It has caused quite a discussion at both sites, so I thought it would be good to share with you lot also.
Religion is running scared from advances in science, particularly brain science such as neurology. Why? Because the brain is the final frontier in uncovering the reasons for belief in superstitions, religion and a higher…

Twin Attacks - A Revolution is the Aftermath
I'm currently following the aftermath and the only word I can find to describe it is mostly inspirational. I'll try to compile a list of the lessons Norway can teach other terror-stricken nations and a list over shameful events. It'll be a long post, you can skip uninteresting paragraphs if i score a critical wall-of-text hit.
----------
I'll start with the worst.
Immediately after the blast everyone though of Islamists. After the shooting started everyone (including…

A religion's use of a public school
A publicly funded school in Toronto, Ontario Canada is allowing an outside (muslim) group to use the cafeteria as a mosque 1 day per week. Non muslim students are not permitted inside during services, males and females are segregated and ...menstruating girls are not allowed to participate.
I can't believe this crap happens in my country, in my province! Please follow the link, read the story and sign the petition, even if you're not…

Religion and Violence
I was thinking, (something I have an uncontrollable propensity to do), about how all religions claim to be peaceful, but all seem to condone murder (with the exception of Janists). Not only in their religious texts, but also in their literature. In the Chronicals of Narnia, the first time the children meet Aslan, he teaches them to kill. And lets not even discuss the "Left Behind" series. It has been my general experience that when someone tells you how loving, wonderful, and peaceful…

Science Channel Chat?
I'm hoping I'm not the only one here who watches the Science Channel. They're on an upswing of really good, quality shows after a few years of drivel. I'm very excited for all the new shows. I'm wondering if anyone would like to join me in watching/discussing them after new episodes have aired. We could find a time after the show to discuss, or chat while watching the show. I prefer having people to talk with during the show, but I'd be willing set up a chat for a later date. There…

The Three Painters :A parable for athiests
A woman gave birth to a set of triplets, two boys and a girl. The three of them all grew up to be amazing still life painters and all three of them were born with a degenerative eye disease. They knew that some day they would go blind so they tried to paint as much as possible before the world went black.
They also knew that nothing satisfied them quite as much as seeing the world and presenting it in art form. To them still life was the greatest thing in the world.
One sunny…

There are those that still say that there are no Atheists in foxholes. Firstly, one should point out that the amount of foxholes is declining rapidly. So much of the big policeman of the world’s baton brandishing over the head of countries that will not do what they are told, is now done by comfortable family folk sitting in some office in Arizona, where after kissing their significant other and grabbing their lunchbox, they’re off to kill a few hundred in a drone attack as if they were…

A Critique of William Lane Craig's Version of Objective Morality
This morning I read a blog entry written by William Lane Craig and shuddered. [http://www.reasonablefaith.org/site/News2?page=NewsArticle&id=5767 ]
According to Craig, his god is not required to follow "objective" moral laws. At the same time this god is defined as perfectly good. If it is perfectly good not to follow objective moral laws then there is no reason why humans…

Thank you God
More than 80 died in the terrorist attack in Norway. It lasted an hour and a half. Even if you believed in God and accept the fact that this attack started you have to wonder why "God" would "allow" it to last for so long. Now all you will hear is that prayers are being sent to those involved. A lot of good that will do now. Thank you "God" for "allowing" this horrible event to happen and stregthen my athieistic beliefs

Best Xian Quote Ever!!!!!!!
This is priceless. In the most recent issue of GQ, no I don't have a subscription, Peyton Hillis was interviewed about being chosen to be on the cover of Madden 2012. His quote absolutely sums up the sheepish oblivious nature of the mindset of the xian. The irony is almost hard to believe. I promise the quote is word for word. It made me literally lol and I had to share. Enjoy:
Q: If the infamous Madden curse holds up, you're headed for an injury. Worried?
A: People…
