A Magazine Non-Christians Need to be Warned About

It's as though Christians know non-Christians will not pick up one of their magazines and read it, which means that they have a free pass to write as much superstitious nonsense and cram as much supernatural guilt into every edition of Joy! Magazine as possible. Every non-believer who needs verification about the absurdity of the Christian faith definitely needs to skim through… Continue

Death of an Atheist.

My grandmother, bless her tiny, uneducated, bigoted, soul, once told me that the most terrible (pronounced ter

- ible) thing she ever saw was the death of an atheist. My grandparents had a friend who was an atheist. When he was dying, in the hospital, they went and spent his last hours on earth, trying to save his soul from damnation in hell. They prayed, admonished, begged, pleaded, and cajoled him to accept Jesus Christ as his savior and lord. And I have always thought about this poor… Continue

Hell: A burning contradiction

Hi! I'm Raithie; an Irish teenage atheist. Since this is my introductory post to the Think Atheist community - I suppose I'll give a brief outline of myself and why I'm here in the first place.

I love to surf, read, play guitar and debate. However, you'll catch me doing anything - I love life and all that comes with it. That sums me up!

I recently decided to bring my atheism online and started to join atheist and theist discussion forums…

Existence of Hell in the Bible

In digging through my Bible for old notes, I ran across the idea that Hell doesn't exist. It's not a new idea, but one little explored. The passage that really spoke to me was Ecclesiastes 6:4-5 "I say that a stillborn child is better off than he. It comes without meaning, it departs in darkness, and in darkness it's name is shrouded. Though is never saw the sun or knew anything, it has more rest than does that man-- Even if he lives a thousand years twice over but fails to enjoy his… Continue

One of the first things I do every Sunday is check Postsecret.com to read all of the secrets people have mailed in for complete strangers to read. Usually half aren't really secrets, and I mainly focus on making sure I hover my mouse over each one to see if there's a secret behind the secret. This morning a postcard caught my eye though, and I could have written it myself.…

"Crimes Against Women and Children in the Name of Islam" from Atheist Climber Blog

From Atheist Climber Blog

Mohammed, the prophet of the Islamic world, married his last bride Aisha when she was just six years old, and the consummated the marriage with her when she was just nine years old. In Islamic states, partly because of this precedent, this practice still happens in fundamentalist countries like Afghanistan. Muslims will say that a child of six… Continue

"Don't call me an Atheist!" from Atheist Climber blog

I have always been atheist. I was born without god and have never found that I have ever needed a god in my life. And it would seem as time goes on, that I have been drawn toward people who share the same opinions about religion as I do, mostly without ever having discussed it, or at least having barely touched on the subject. I had never called myself… Continue

Arrogance & Christian views on Evolution

Most religionists reject Evolution because we were shaped in His image. Genesis 1:27 "So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them." Rejecting evolution because we are perfect as is extremely arrogant. Can you imagine any other area where you claim that we or any item is perfect? Everything has room for improvement. Leaving aside vestigial problems such as an Appendix that can kill you, blind spots in eyes, etc, I want to… Continue

The Incompatibility of Science & Religion

I have batted this topic around in my head for a couple of years now but when all is said and done I can not help but stick firmly to one side of the argument: Religion and science are extremely incompatible. I strongly feel that to embrace one is to deny the other.

A recent article posted by… Continue
