Pentecostal Holiness

This small denomination of the great web of Christianity is not known of by many people.  This is due mostly to the inherent qualities of the religion itself.  The men must keep their hair short and keep their faces shaven.  The women can not cut their hair, nor wear makeup or jewelry of any kind.  They must only wear ankle-length skirts/dresses and cover their arms at least to the elbow at all times.  Though they do not have to wear bonnets (one of the only differences between them and…

The Many Paths to Atheism

I'm active on a few sites and there seems to be a few truths. One is that many atheists were at one time religionists. The ones that were once religionists seem to think that they have a monopoly on escaping religion. Their path out is the only way to escape religion. It's not unlike AA members. You must follow these 12 steps and keeping coming back because it works. Much like AA isn't THE way (or statistically, a way) there are many paths out of religion.

I make arguments against…

Today I Had one of the most lucid dreams of my life and in it, I spoke to god.

The dream started with me running through a very long hallway from which I could not see the end but I could easily recognize it as I had seen it before. It was the hallway from the apartment where I used to live in Barcelona with my parents. But, instead of being just a couple of meters long, this one was infinite.

I kept running despite the fact I didn't know where I was running to or from. I ran and ran for what it felt as eternity.

All of a sudden I stopped…

No Tolerance For Intolerance.

I don't have a lot of tolerance for intolerance.

I guess I'm just a bigot in that way.

Homophobia, racism, sexism, nationalism, and the mother-effing grand-daddy of all intolerance, religion. Religion not only perpetuates intolerance, it spends a hefty amount of time and money enforcing it through government officials.

When I hear someone use a homophobic slur, I get quietly offended. When I hear someone say something incredibly racist, I'll speak up and calmly… Continue

This Space Sphere Contains a Secret Message to Aliens

This is LAGEOS. Since 1976, this perfect disco sphere has been orbiting Earth carrying 426 cube corner reflectors made of fused silica glass—except four, made of germanium. It also contains a coded message, designed by Dr. Carl Sagan.

The message was duplicated in two 4 x 7-inch stainless steel plates and contains several codes telling things about Earth. The first…

Happy Mother's Day!

In the spirit of Mother's day, I want to thank all of the mothers that love and respect their families, and raise their children to become productive adults in life. Mother goddesses were revered at times in history, and it ironic that the the Abrahamic faiths, which include Christianity, Islam and Judaism, fail to include a mother goddess in their religions.
Strangely enough,  the…

first, do make sure you tune in tonight to check out Greg's interview with philosopher of religion Dr. Matt McCormick!
