Angels Among Us

As a child, I believed that angels lived in the clouds above us. Remembered reverie calls to me now across the vast expanse of space and time as I am drawn to those hours spent lying on my back in green summer grass, riding in a car as an idle child passenger, or stretching my sight along the vast expanse of ocean to a distant place where the water meets those castles in the sky. Wherever my daydreams caught me, I would invariably find my mind seduced by the clouds. Even now, I still…

More Afican Americans are coming out as Atheists

I saw this and thought I had to share it.

My father would always saw to me that he refuses to pray to a white Jesus. and he also said that if he got to heaven the first question he would ask God is "Why did you make me Black?" and if he was reincarnated that he would come back as a white guy and enjoy the spoils of being on top. i always thought that was funny. So read on and discuss. I'd like to hear your thoughts on race and religion

Why All Carbon-Based Bipeds Should Be Anti-Theistic Atheists

"An Atheist and his Natural Universe" from Atheist Climber blog

from Atheist Climber blog

I have, in the past tried to put forward my thoughts on the idea that all things that happen in a universe are natural. There is no such thing as an unnatural act, because when you look at THIS world on a universal scale, it is little more than a small speck of dust… Continue

God, Evil, Heaven, & Stubbing My Toe on a Circular Argument

So we've all heard or thought of the question, "Why does God Allow Evil?" Christians have wrestled with that discussion for as long as I know. The common conclusion is that God allows evil because of free will, plus it lets you know what God's love is. You can find that answer all over the internet. Aside from that being a terrible argument, I love what this does to the afterlife. I read an article… Continue

TSBOE Votes on Texan Curriculum Standards

Today, the Texas State Board of Education voted on curriculum standards of social studies for the Texan public school system. As I am sure most of you are aware, these standards will affect many other states as publishers will often tailor textbooks specifically to meet Texan requirements. This vote followed several days of debate as final amendments were proposed.

Cynthia Dunbar, one of the strongest voices for the SBOE's conservative voting block, decided that a nice, long… Continue

Yeah, it really is that silly...

I was reading the comics as usual, and the past three days Frazz has caught my eye. I can not help but replace the Pythagorean Theorem with the Big Bang or Evolution. In doing that, this comic beautify illustrates the mindset of those that blindly dismiss these facts, based only on sheer faith. When represented in this manner, I feel it shows how childish and ungrounded their…

On Moses

Before I really confirmed my atheism, I went searching for religion. I picked up the Bible. My first impression on Moses was this: con-man of the highest class.

Moses lived in hard times. Food depended on the weather, disease was rampant, sanitation scarce, wealth completely unevenly distributed, slavery abundant, and despite what the Bible claimed, lifetimes were brief.

Suddenly, Moses "discovers" the creation of all mankind! Amazing! Moses is the only one who can see… Continue

You just hate god!

How many of you get that?

My answer is quite simply this:

"I do not hate god. I hate your idea of god. I hate your jealous, homophobic, misogynistic, genocidal, pedophile persona of a 'higher power.' I hate the actions that result from a moral code put down by goat herders two thousand years before my birth. I -quite literally- hate the hatred the followers of the Abrahamic god foster upon this world."

I hate your god about as much as you hate Freddie Kruger. Even an imaginary… Continue

What Faith and Blogs have in common

Today, all around the Internet, especially on facebook and the like, there was a story moving with vicious veracity, that President Obama had canceled the National Day of Prayer. This, of course, is not true! It was cancelled by Judge Barbara Crabb from Wisconsin. She is the same judge that handed down the controversial Wisconsin Walleye War ruling in 1987. But I am sure that she will be remembered for this instead. Since, no one outside of Wisconsin knows what the hell… Continue
