I live in Texas.

I’ve always been an atheist.
All my life I’ve had to put up with these bible pounding clowns who think their “Manure” does not stink.
Well it does.
I’ve seen these clown just ruin a college.
At first there were no preachers on the Board of Regents.
Then one day there was one.
Then two.
The next thing you knew all the Regents were preachers.
That lead to the demise of the college.
It lost it’s…

from Atheist Climber blog
I have, in the past tried to put forward
my thoughts on the idea that all things that happen in a universe are natural. There is no such thing as an unnatural act, because when you look at THIS world on a universal scale, it is little more than a small speck of dust…

The following blog entry developed out of an online discussion elsewhere. I wondered how others felt about the subject, so I'm blogging it.
It's funny how there's a virtually infinite number of ways to combine musical notes into a song, yet only a select few styles and genres dominate popular music at any given time. Until the advent of free (or pirated) .MP3 music files, I used to think the limited variety of popular music was due to record labels and…

So we've all heard or thought of the question, "Why does God Allow Evil?" Christians have wrestled with that discussion for as long as I know. The common conclusion is that God allows evil because of free will, plus it lets you know what God's love is. You can find that answer all over the internet. Aside from that being a terrible argument, I love what this does to the afterlife. I read an
article… Continue

I'm having a bit of trouble with my ex-friend.She knows I don't believe there is a god and has started talking to me about it.I couldn't really hear her properly because of her roaring at me.I could make out a couple of words which were: "The bible is proof god exists","God died on the cross" and "God did exist".I'm assuming she means Jesus was alive in the last comment.I'm also having some trouble with my very best friend. She is a christian who comes from a more religious family. She's fine…

“If you don’t believe in God, then what keeps you from murdering people?”
This has probably been the most persistent question I’ve gotten since deconverting to atheism. The question is, essentially, how can one be a ‘good person’ (or act morally) if there is no deity in which morality inheres. Of course, belief in God, in itself, is not what is being questioned, but whether or not that entity
exists. None of the persons I have met would (as far as I know) claim that all…

As long as I can remember, I've loved video games. Growing up, I used them to fill a void in my life that grows bigger with age - I will never regret the time I've spend playing them. Now, I'm no addict or World of Warcraft type nerd with no higher aspirations than to get a special set of virtual armor. When I have more interesting things going on I don't even play. Quite frankly I find myself baffled because it's hard to even find the motivation to play games anymore. Even so, they've played a…

I'm a fellow who has moderate leaning tendencies in most things. I try to find the common ground and an equitable solution.
But I look at such works by the Discovery Institute, David Barton's "Wall Builders", The Texas School Board...
and I see no common ground. I see an enemy that seeks the annihilation of any opposing thought. An enemy that wishes to do great and deliberate harm to the American people for one purpose only; the pursuit of further power and wealth at the…

Two things happened this morning that made me want to hop on here and type up something blasting Christianity once again…and it’s sad that this shit happens daily.
FIRST THING - I check Facebook this morning and read someone posting the lame ass ‘copy/paste” if you’re ______ is in heaven. Well, based on…

Considering the founder of FB is actually also an atheist - I find it quite ridiculous that he also is allowing his management teams to bow to religious pandering.

Joe Jervis over at Joe. My. God. tipped me off to a small story about Exodus International president Alan Chambers making a dubious Facebook posting.
It was about a lesbian couple who, after
22 years together, have now apparently decided to "accept Jesus"…

As a person who discusses his beliefs mostly with the like-minded, I find it difficult to speak to someone with a very different viewpoint to my own in relation to religion, science, the paranormal and the metaphysical. I generally won't stand by and let what I perceive as foolishness escape challenged, because I think misinformation is…

As some or many of you may know, the French Cabinet has recently introduced a Bill that has created an offence by "inciting to hide the face". This law is targeting the wearing of veils by women of the Muslim faith. A similar veil ban is in the works in neighboring Belgium.
What do you guys think? Is the wearing of a veil an affront to gender equality and
undermining the nation's secular foundations by bringing religion into
the streets? I mean I hate the double standards…

Way back in the early 1900's when I worked on an ambulance as an EMT and was a newbee we delivered a Premie with very underdeveloped lungs. Kid was breathing but not to well. We hitem with some 0's and ran calling in a standby at the hosp. We get to the hospital hand off and report to the Nurse and leave. 15 minutes later we come back in to check on the Kid. The curtain is drawn. Maybe the kid bought it? I open the curtain and the baby is having agonal respirations with deep retractions and…

On Saturday
I wrote about Bishop Thomas J. Olmsted, head of the Phoenix diocese, punishing a nun who tried to help save a dying woman's life by advising her to take her doctor's advice and abort her eleven-week-old fetus. The doctors and the hospital both agreed that the woman's pregnancy would probably kill her given her condition.
Olmsted evidently thought the woman should have rolled the dice and…
