A narrative essay by – Heather Spoonheim
I have a gambling problem – a very serious one. I have never lost so much money that I couldn’t pay the bills or had to sell prized possessions, but it is still a serious problem. The reason I think it is serious is because I have such a clear and perfect understanding of the futility of ever truly earning a…

My dad called me today just to talk to me about this supposed "ghost horse" on the news. I had not seen it before and I had no idea what he was talking about. He said that during a newscast, a ghostly green horse with a rider rides across the screen. Then, he throws in "ya know, it's just like the horsemen of revelations." Really, Dad? A little shocked, I responded, "So, it's the end of the world, eh?"
Now, I don't know if my dad knows I am an atheist. I have my mom as a…

I was wondering how many people here have never met/rarely see religious fanatics. Plenty of people here talk about their experience dealing with intolerance, but I can honestly say I've never met a religious fanatic. The closest I could say I've come was this girl I went to high school with who was a pretty conservative Christian, went to pro-life rallies and stuff like that, but even she never tried to convert me or tell me I was wrong or anything. I'm wondering if it's partly my location.…

So I was trolling around the internet looking for something interesting to watch because everything on t.v. was about that stupid royal wedding, when I came across a video from this guy Jeff YokeUp Petkevicius. Has anybody ever heard of him?
This guy and his wife suck. I put this under ethics and morals because it seems like this guy has them twisted. I watched a couple more of his videos because I…

My country was not peacefully settled by religious people, it was christianized. It was forcefully transferred from paganism, sometimes by the use of sword and physical torture. People were given two choices, Christianity or Death.
A few brave heroes chose death.
This is why, if a dictator takes over my country and choose it to be dechristianized by the same method, the very core of my being would be horrified and revolted.
But after it was done, I would not…

A discussion that got under my nerves and electrically shocked me into a spastic fit and eye twitches about the hit Fox t.v show "Glee", and, personally, I find that only until recently has there been a decent representation of gay teens on T.V/Movies, if any had been made at all in the past.
In this video, you'll see Bryan Fischer, director of American Family Association, which as you all know upon hearing, has to do with some sort of bigotry and…

the strongest people i’ve ever known
don’t flinch when threatened
they use the threat
they use the violence
to build up their own position further
to find better, quicker, more acute manners in which to
fight
relentlessly
with eyes peeled
and ears perked up to listen
always engaging & taking part in the
conversation
that is ongoing
&
never-ending
until that moment when our heart…

Well the 21st of May is coming upon us quickly (of course there is also a back-up December rapture date). What can we say to those that are left behind? I mean other than asking them to name 1 person that was raptured.
I can start this off with a few that come to mind:
#1 Notice: The rapture has been cancelled as the lord could not find any worthy souls.
#2 Apologies. The rapture has been indefinitely delayed due to interference from excess carbon dioxide in the…

CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- A controversial group that says it can help gay people find "the freedom to grow into heterosexuality" is set to visit West Virginia in May to meet with pastors and other church leaders.
More proof that religion is harming people:
\
"They are here to walk beside people who want to leave the homosexual lifestyle," Dys…

“But what if you’re wrong?” So goes the common questions posed to atheists by Christians. Putting aside for a moment the obvious retort (what if they are wrong and another religion is right?) I decided to really organize my thoughts a bit. What would I say if I was wrong, the Christians were right, and a moment after dying I found myself before the blinding majesty of Yahweh with Christ at his right hand?…

It has been time to take care of this for over a year. As a mobile home park manager I require my dog owners to have their dogs licensed with the city. I just hadn't gotten around to do it myself. So wrong, but true. I deal with the city a couple of times a month with the occasional loose dog, dog bite and an array of feral cats so I do know better and John, the local Animal Control Employee knows me well.
I downloaded the paperwork and filled it out. Searched endlessly for my…

Into the Mirror
by: Walter C. Maki
Raising my head to see what is in the mirror
The face seems familiar but something has changed
Though the look in his eyes still have that glimmer
They are backed by an inquisitive hint of disappointment
The man in mirror the doesn't look sad as if he lost a friend
His expression carries the traces of he use to think was…

Ok, so first of all this was posted by a dear friend of mine, who just so happens to be uber Christian. A few years back, she had a lot of problems getting pregnant and once she did, she miscarried. It was a very sad time for her and her family and I feel bad for any couple who has to go through this...but...after extensive medical treatments and what not, "god" blessed her with 2 beautiful twin girls. Now, this is just one thing I don't have the guts to call her out on...[mainly because she…
