I was on a mountain and I missed the Jehovah's Witnesses

I knew they had been at my house because of their pamphlet they left behind.  Jehovah: Who is He? it asks.  I figured I'd read it, just to amuse myself.  It was not very amusing at all.  Quoting Michael Behe, it touts the Bible as a source to describe who designed the building blocks of life.  It claims that Jehovah is a living, being with appealing qualities like loving-kindness and mercy, and that it is nice to be in the presence of such a being.  Then it goes on to describe how those who…

Free Slaves

Your taxes at work. Cursing the Edomites

Obadiah 1:1 to 1:21

1:1 The point of view of Obadiah.

1:11 The Lord thinks this about the Edomites. They stood back and laughed while Jerusalem was destroyed. Truth be known, they even aided in the destruction. …

Why I'm not an Agnostic

97f/06/huch/6264/43

"I ought to call myself an agnostic; but, for all practical purposes, I am an atheist." - Bertrand Russell

Atheism, I find, is often misunderstood. To a significant number of people, it is seen as a firm belief that God does not/cannot exist - meaning it's 'just as bad' as religion itself. This is wrong.

Calling Atheism a belief…

The Catholic League and Pedophiles

William Donohue is the face of the Catholic League. For years he's been saying something very offensive. His organization continued the tradition on Valentines Day. On a day for love, the Catholic League spread their vile hate instead. A religion that prides itself on forgiveness and unconditional love has an American face that judges homosexuality as deviant, yet this church based on love does nothing to stop the Catholic League from equating pedophilia with homosexuality

David…

on the outright blatant charbroiling of Christopher Dorner

oh how they don’t like it when one of their own

turns on them,

oh how they don’t like it when he gets a gun---

oh how easily they lie when their lies are exposed &

now Mr. Dorner is dead,

just like they planned.

as parallels are made with Waco &

the buzz clips show the forceful roasting of the cabin in which

Dorner hid for his last moments,

the audio exchanges of the officers in question who

A godless (and sexy) way to celebrate Valentines Day: Hedonism Day.

Open Letter to Christians #3: Freedom From Religion? Yes.

Crosspost from here:

Dear Christian,

Well, you've heard it said... and I imagine many of you have said it yourself, exasperated with some atheist complaint about prayer in school or a creche scene in front of a courthouse:  "It's freedom of religion not freedom from religion."

Well, actually it is both; you cannot…

Burn Ban Lifted

OH MY Judgment Day

Amos 1:1 to 9:11

1:1 These are some words blurted out one day by Amos.

That’s Mr. Amos to you.

The Lord says he has three or four damn good reasons for sending a nasty horrible fire to burn up all of the nations in the…

eyes of a child

the eyes of a child see what

is happening &

they know it’s not good---

they see the facial expressions

of the loved ones round them,

stressed out & angry,

saddened & depressed,

trying to squeeze a cent out of

every possible path left

to the increasing poor of the

world.

the eyes of the child are then

fed lies,

for whenever they open up their

mouths to ask why things…

A final though on Christians & Non believers

final thought..

Christians believe that if one lives by the teaching of Jesus and obey his commandments what lies in store after death is a heavenly paradise. On the other hand those who rebel against God and live a sinful life are assured of an eternity of never ending suffering unless they asks God for forgiveness before they die.

Nonsense I hear you say. Well unfortunately this Christian belief cannot be proven or disproved. It is simply a belief. One…

Reliability of Fatima Witnesses

Witnesses at Fatima in 1917 as per written records consisted of Masons, Communists, Atheists and Christians. They saw the sun, contrary to all cosmic laws, twirl in the sky, throw off colors and descend to earth.

A reasonable diversity of witnesses don’t you think. I don’t see how Masons,…

How do I begin my work day?

No need to pray, for nothing is going to hear me anyway. A quiet few moments in the car, driving down the road, listening to classical music before I arrive at work, is a great way to start my day. Also, while I'm at it...just looking around at nature, the sky, the beauty that is all around us, and the wonder of our world all around us. It is amazing that all this developed over such a long period of time, and that all the creatures that surrounds us all descended over billions of years from…

like it was going out of style,

famine was coming.

Science, Logic, and the power of the mind.

Just as in searching for a life-partner, until we begin searching ourselves do we uncover what is needed for meaningful results.

In repeatedly finding gaps and holes in every religious phylosophy I've studied, I started searching for scientific answers. Answers with a concrete and/or mathmatical foundation. The deeper I got into my quest, the more evident it became to me that the mind is capable of tricking us into subscribing unconditionally to whatever theory it is that makes the…
