New Member Gone Due to Parents

A few days ago, we had a new member by the name of Tim. Tim posted an introductory blog telling us about himself. I can't link to it now, because it's gone. I'll get to that. First, let me repost Tim's blog.

I'm a minor (17) and I'm wondering what exactly are my rights? I've tried researching around and I can't seem to… Continue

Controversial Schultheis public schools religion bill ends in a whimper

DENVER– A controversial bill that sought to expand space for religion in Colorado’s public schools failed to make it out of committee Monday. Even before the hearing began, the bill’s sponsor,

Christian conservative state Sen. Dave Schultheis, R-Colorado Springs,

seemed to have accepted the fact that his “Public School Religious Bill

of Rights” would very likely fail to pass and so offered amendments

that significantly weakened its provisions. In the end, so little…

Ugly divorce, custody fight turns into religious battle

An already ugly divorce and child custody fight in Chicago has given way to a battle over religion.

On Tuesday, 35-year-old law student Joseph Reyes was arraigned in a downtown Chicago courtroom on charges he violated a temporary restraining order that says he can’t expose his 3-year-old

daughter to any other religion than Judaism.

St. Patrick's Day

Never has my family been Catholic and I'm only 1/4 Irish at most... but I'll be damned if St. Patty's isn't one of my favorite holidays of the year. My first real celebration of St. Patty's Day was shortly after I broke up with a live in girlfriend of mine in 2003. I made the decision to schedule the day off work and met up with a few friends under the warm Arizona sun. Once the music began my troubles seemed to melt away and by nights end my 'spirit' had been completely renewed. I made the… Continue

Straight Atheists

I got a friend request on Myspace for Straight Atheists. For some reason I thought it would be something like straight-up Atheist. I dunno, now that doesn't make much sense--but that's really not the point. This guy is bashing homosexuality and the Atheists that are okay and support/tolerate it. He calls it a malfunction and what not. He seems to be a militant anti-homosexual Atheist. I will no doubt be deleting his page. Sure, he has the right to his opinion, and he can post it where ever he… Continue

Is America a Christian nation? I don't think so!

http://chrisb327.newsvine.com/_news/2010/01/13/3751892-is-america-a-christian-nation-i-dont-think-so The replies are great as well ~Dan

I've come across several Newsvine articles in which the topic of conversation turns into a debate regarding if America is a christian nation or not. As you can probably imagine, the discussions become very charged on both sides of… Continue

Yet another reason not to got to church.

RICHMOND, Calif. (Feb. 15) - Police were seeking a hooded gunman who

horrified the congregation of a San Francisco Bay area church when he

paced the aisles then pulled out a gun and shot two teenagers.

No arrests had been made or suspects named in the Sunday shooting at New

Gethsemane Church of God in Christ in Richmond, police said.

The gunman flanked by two companions in hooded sweatshirts… Continue

Good evening heathens!

I just thought I'd share a brief update for anyone that is interested:

Colin and I signed paperwork for legal marriage last month. Since then, we've decided to move on from the desert and get back towards some water.

I hear there are some great white sharks in the California area that might need some observation....:)

We are moving to the bay area next week.

Mum will be sending our drysuits via mail soon, and I must say I'm looking forward to it. We thought it would be a… Continue

Not Always Happy-Happy, Joy-Joy

I wrote this down in a notebook the second after this experience took place. I kept it to myself because it was personal, and it pissed me off royally. Of course, I didn’t want to share the negatives of my efforts, only the positive…nobody wants to be bothered with the bullshit. I’m dealing with lots of different personalities, and on occasion, I wonder why I’m not a complete recluse. Even with so many positive experiences, that one shitty

My (image heavy) Valentines Day Adventure!

I awoke this morning to a top secret envelope with the words "Detective: Beth Lehman" written on the front left by an unknown person who identified himself only as the Captain. I opened it and found thee files inside, all with maps to different locations around the town and

instructions for each location. I took the first file and began the

The Myth of Sexual Purity

I caught a little bit of a call in radio show this afternoon where a gentleman had called in to say that he was dating a girl who wished to remain a virgin until marriage. And though he cared for her, he felt that sex was an important part of a relationship.…

Kill the innocent

I would like to share a few reasons why I chose to be Atheist and not associate myself with any form of religion. I hope that I can be informative and that everyone who reads this will keep an open mind. The statements that I am about to make should make you realize that religion in its many forms and denominations, is the cause of millions of innocent people’s lives.

Let’s start off with something we can remember because it has not been that long since the 9/11 attacks. On September… Continue

The Ancestor's Trail

Any UK atheists fancy joining us for this event?

Here are a few choice sentences to explain:

Inspired by Richard Dawkin’s book ‘The Ancestor’s tale’, subtitled ..a pilgrimage to the dawn of life.

Imagine the evolutionary tree of…

Woman says God told her to shoot at neighbors

MERRITT ISLAND - A Brevard County woman claiming to be God's messenger

has been charged with attempted murder after reportedly shooting at a

family on their back porch.

The sheriff's office reports that 47-year-old Kathleen Aceto showed up with a gun and began shooting Friday morning. A man in the house grabbed a gun and fired back, and

Aceto ran away.

Primate Pride

I got bogged down in a twitter argument a week or so ago. I didn't mean to. I had the best of intentions, but I still ended up with a raging headache and a pile of @ replies from a believer.

So anyway... Like many other people I am fascinated by my fellow primates. I stand and stare in awe at them whenever I'm at the zoo. They are a real and tangible connection to the world around me. It is quite inspiring and poetic really.

I noticed a believer [@tministry] had been… Continue

I'm rubber, you're glue...

Where did the christian boing-flip come from? It seems like they are always holding up a mirror to life so that then can get everything backwards. But even by their standards this is a ridiculous tactic.

Consider Ray Comfort, unpleasant though the task may be. Ray makes statements like

  • "Evolution is a fairytale for grown ups."

  • "you can lead an atheist to evidence but you cannot make him think."

  • "Evolution is the dumbest religion ever…

Bachmann: God will ‘curse’ America if it opposes Israel

Got this from @Monicks on twitter~Dan

bachmanngreen20090928 Bachmann: God will curse America if it opposes Israel Michele Bachmann, the outspoken conservative House representative from

Minnesota, says the United States will cease to exist if it "fails to

stand" with Israel.

"I am convinced in my heart and in my mind that if the United States fails to stand with Israel, that is the end
