The Bible & Science

The Bible is not a book of science, though the first Chapter of Genesis, as the nineteenth-century sociologist Max Weber points out, is the necessary prelude to science. It represents the first time people saw the universe as the product of a single creative will, and therefore as intelligible rather than capricious and mysterious.

Nature has no divinity. Indeed, in the Hebrew Bible, it became “undeified” as G. W. F. Hegel put it. Hegel observed (in lectures notes his students…

Psychic Sally Morgan is afraid and should be

In September of last year magician Paul Zenon wrote an article for the daily Mail in which he exposed Sally Morgan. It was widely read and so fraudster Morgan is so upset she is suing (more details). She has a right to be upset, Zenon correctly pointed to the usual bag of…

God is not punishing me

I'm here waiting for the doctor to determine if I should go today for surgery or if it's going to be tomorrow, I have internal bleeding, I was put under treatment however the medication didn't work. The danger is if it's let alone I could get a blood infection and end up poisioned by my own blood or get an internal hemorrage. My family and friends are completely sure this is related with me being an Atheist and god giving me a lesson so I return back to Catholicism. I don't think so. I'm…

Wait… You got married for THAT?!?

My now super religious sister has been dating this 100% religious jersey shore tool for the past year. Whom I personally can’t stand, even before I found out that he once told my sister that he had to think of younger, prettier women to just have sex with her… because she is to old looking.

So last night while in a meeting at work, I get this text from my sister saying, “YAY,…

Scarred

Im scared to tell anyone im an atheist... Its really hard for me to talk to my family about how much i've changed. My friends have stopped being my friends since i opened my eyes and saw that blind faith for what it really is, a lie. Im angry at everyone who talks to me about religion because everyone is alloud to talk about how good jesus love is and things like that, but when i talk about how jesus love is not real for me i get rejected. I know i shouldnt worry that much about what people…

Mormons - crazy, but nice?

So this is my first blog and I thought maybe I could share my experience meeting Mormons. I grew up in Germany, and we don't really get their type there. I've only ever seen a few in their spiffy suits, riding their bikes around town, but I had never talked to one before. Mostly people at home are either Catholic (like my family) or Protestant. And of course we have Muslims and various other little splinter groups, but mostly those are around because immigrants from Turkey, Russia etc…

Intelligent Design Fails

Intelligent Design (ID) is being touted among many major cities as a viable alternative to evolution.  However, the claims made by ID are easy to dismiss, but haven't been easy to disprove... until now.

Watch the video and see exactly why ID will be a thing of the past, along with the flat-earth theory and the theory of spontaneous generation.

Right without Religion

You do not need religion to be a morally or ethically "right" individual, let's put that out here in the open. This is for the communities that don't yet understand their religion is poisoning their world views. The people who publicly ridicule GLBT communities, the small towns where interracial couples are not accepted. Those special kinds of towns and cities where it is acceptable to fly the flag of the south, to openly support slavery, but if you support same-sex relations or…

Semantics, faith, beliefs and the purpose of life... techno-optimism

I'm a recent Atheist. Most of my life I was agnostic as I felt I didn't have the ability to prove there was no god... However, eventually I realized if I want to create a model in life on which to come to new discoveries I need a framework in order to do so. I had to make a solid decision on something so important. So I did and decided, no, there is no god.

Semantics to me are the biggest problem with arguing religious topics as everyone has their own definition of every word. God,…

There are over 2 billion Christians in the world, how can all those people be wrong?

There are over 2 billion Christians in the world, how can all those people be wrong?

Quite easily actually. Until new information is available the whole world may be wrong about a certain idea. Like the shape of the world or the center of our solar system for example. It's just that religion is a faith based concept and can still exist even with tons of new information at our disposal.

These faith based concepts that can be neither proved nor disproved are not all that…

Radiometric Dating 101?

I would call myself of average on the IQ/intellectual scale. Having said that I do have a very difficult time with complex ideas in terms of understanding and explaining them. So when little things like this pop-up and allow the light-bulb in my head to go on, I'm carefully optimistic in sharing it with others. So if you are a science buff and think this is accurate representation or if you think it is not accurate, please let me know!…

"C&E" what's the point?

I don't know about everyone else, but I have a lot of friends who consider themselves a part of this or that sect of Christianity, yet only attend church a few times a year.  Along with infrequent attendance of services, these people often deviate from the standard doctrine in relation to sex, alcohol, drugs, profanity, and a myriad of other issues.  Clearly, these people are not "living the life" of a true Christian.  However, when faced with the idea of atheism or issues of church and…

Even if you call being gay a sin; A biblical response to evangelicals

This is an argument for when Christians insist that the bible calls being gay a sin and can't be convinced otherwise.

I can cite the studies done on the brains of the corpses of gay people that prove that they have very different structuring of a few areas of the hippocampus... But Christians are disgustingly out of line and bring hatred on their own heads. …

Matthew 10:32-36 and how religion poisons loving families.

Matthew 10

32 'So if anyone declares himself for me in the presence of human beings, I will declare myself for him in the presence of my Father in heaven.

33 But the one who disowns me in the presence of human beings, I will disown in the presence of my Father in heaven.

34 'Do not suppose that I have come to bring peace to the earth: it is not peace I have come to bring, but a sword.

35…

Permanent Record

I just read an article about the Federal Government wanting access to all students' "permanent records". And I remembered the time I went back to my old high school to review mine. The first thing I noticed was that every year when they asked about vocational aims, and I had duly put "cosmologist" they had corrected my obvious miss-spelling to "cosmotologist". Then I noticed that my principal had sent a note to the FBI informing them that I was a "potenital presidential assassin" a communist…
