As I have stated elsewhere on this site (and on my own blog, LotusGeek.com), I am an "out of the closet" atheist. I am a bit unusual as an atheist, and by that I mean that
1) I have been married (mostly happily ;) ) for 25 years this June (that's twenty five YEARS, in case you missed it), and I have five amazing kids (and one grandkid already!). Most of them are agnostic/atheist, and the rest I'm not sure about (I don't… Continue
This site shows a cooperation between secular and religious. It shows that when things get desperate enough 'thinking' people can come together in spite of ideological differences to battle 'radicalism'. To further this point there have almost always been religious people who have been involved in legally opposing the teaching of creationism in the public schools.
Oh wow, this is two days in a row that my inbox has had a treat waiting for me! Mike Adams, author of yesterday's comedic gem from the webzine Natural News, has just penned a biting retort to the resultant fury of those pesky skeptics.
As to my criticism yesterday regarding Adams' utter disregard for providing hyperlinks to support his statements, he seems to have amended this journalistic oversight as this new article… Continue
so we all know about Johnny's fantastic Sunday Morning Service. you've no doubt noticed Johnny's clever play on church ritual with the name of his weekly blog series. well, since i follow a lot of blogs and news feeds on atheism, skepticism, and science Johnny and i decided we'd put our heads together and do separate "services" under the same theme of a Sunday ritual. the new Sunday School series will follow… Continue
Faith is touted by Christians as a virtue. Last year when Daniel Hauser and his Mom refused treatment for his cancer after a court ordered him to take treatment, I posted the story on Facebook and noted the stupidity of this decision. One of my cousin’s wives said, “At least he has faith in something.”, as if that was somehow a good thing. Faith was killing him. Science is keeping him alive and doing well… Continue
There seems to be no topic on this so I thought I’d write it as my first blog post. I have gotten some positive feedbacks on my page so I thought I’d share the code with everyone. I have an old CSS code that seems to do the trick. No, I am not a coder.
So, if you are bored with the default Ning themes and is in the mood for a little experimentation, why not personalize your page? You will never run out of themes to choose from and play with that will suit your mood… Continue
Of course the answer all depends on who you ask. With in religion itself you will find those who are completely against war and at the same time those who feel god has chosen them to do battle for his sake. There is a strange hypocrisy in religion. On one hand they preach peace, love and forgiveness and next minute they are reading scripture that tells them to kill all the people who don’t believe in their God. Stone all those who work on the Sabbath to death, murder… Continue
I'm a Christian. Ya'll hate me. I get it. But, while I'm here, I hope to bridge the gap a little between us. I don't plan on converting you or anything ridiculous like that. I don't have the time and let's face it, you don't want to listen anyways. Rather, I prefer to show you that not all of us are lunatics.
So, for starters, here's an example of something "logical" that we can relate on. Not ALL Christians believe in a young earth. In fact, the idea to me is rather silly. I like to… Continue
