Lauruhhpalooza posted the article a few days ago
about the parents who killed their daughter because their religious beliefs prevented them from seeking medical help. The brief recap: Kara Neumann died of diabetic ketoacidosis on Easter Sunday 2008; she could have been easily saved by known medical procedures but her parents let her die because of their religious beliefs. They killed their child for fear of… Continue

You gotta love the Vatican. All in one weekend they've lifted the excommunication of a bishop that denies the Holocaust ever happened (http://www.cnn.com/2009/WORLD/europe/01/26/pope.holocaust.denial/index.html) and slammed President Barack Obama for lifting the ban on U.S. funding for foreign family planning groups because some of those groups support abortion (http://www.time.com/time/world/article/0,8599,1873904,00.html).
So what's the message here? Killing babies is evil - unless… Continue

Found this appalling enough to want to share. Isn't it lovely sharing a country with these cretins? (those of us who are Americans). p

In his inaugural address, President Barack Obama celebrated America as a "nation of Christians and Muslims, Jews and Hindus -- and nonbelievers." Some Christians are taking issue with the approach to inclusiveness, saying the president misrepresented America's culture and heritage. Continue
By mentioning, for the first time in an inaugural address, the 16.1…

This isn't my first blog...and it probably won't be my last.
I admit that I've had dalliances in other places. There was even a long term affair with myspace, but as my life progressed past what I wanted family members to browse, the entries there became less and less sincere.
There is an anonymity to the internet. A sense of honesty that can be scrutinized by a thousand people (and as long as none of them are blood related, it's perfectly free.) There isn't much of a chance of… Continue

I grew up going to Pentecostal churches. The earliest church I remember from my childhood burned to the ground sometime around the age of 5 or 6. I don’t really remember too much about it; but the next church was a Church of God. For anyone who is not familiar, this was one of those churches where all the women wore their hair in huge “beehive” hairdos and were not allowed to wear pants, or makeup, or jewelry (not even wedding rings, but my mom did put her foot down about that one, lol). I… Continue

"Negligent Fundie Parents Deny Life-saving Treatment To Daughter.

She could have survived the ordeal, had she been taken to the hospital, yet her parents, justified in their belief that god… Continue

First off, modern religion has become something of a monster. The problem I have with religion is that it is a delusion. Yes I said it a DELUSION (youre all CRAZY). To believe that a man in the sky hears all your thoughts, listens to your prayers, and talks to you telepathically is absolutely ludicrous, and it is mind-blowing to me how the majority of our society believes all of this. Do you people really think a guy who apparently has a “divine plan” for the world is going to change that… Continue

""She Wasn't Driving Like a Christian," Says Driver Who Rammed Car
A driver who rammed another car at high speed outside San Antonio last week told police that Jesus had told him to do so because the other motorist was not "driving like a Christian."
In my experience, He is usually satisfied if you just give a lousy driver the finger, but in this… Continue

At the end of my post I asked the question, what is the solution...?
Today I came across one solution that makes a lot of sense. The authors of a paper in the next issue of Nature (Jan 22, 2009) have gone on the offensive.
"We have already seen misleading interpretations of our results in the popular press and the blogosphere, and so we thought we would nip such speculation in the bud."
To be published in Nature is to have survived rigorous, fact checking, data… Continue

I work at a Walmart, sucky job, but it's a way to get by as a college kid. A few weeks ago an older couple came through my line (I'm a cashier) and after paying, there was no one behind them, and they gentleman said "Son, have you heard lately that God loves you?" I was caught off guard, tired, and had heard this opening line before. I have heard this, surprise, so I said yeah, hoping he'd give me a smile and say something about God and leave. Instead, he asks "if you were to die today, would… Continue

So i was thinking about Madalyn Murray O'Hair. I bet most of you are too young to remember her (as i scan the demographics, a significant portion of you are in your mid 20s and younger). And a number of you aren't American.
I hope I'm not repeating a post if any of you mentioned O'Hair already.
Madalyn Muarry O'Hair was the founder of American Atheists. Founded in 1963. When this country was knee deep in Christian dogma. Good grief, in my history class I learned people… Continue

Well it's a new year (yes I know it's a bit late) and I guess I've just been procrastinating, so here is the list:
1) The new president does a serious public relations overhaul with the rest of the world. Get the rest of the world to accept Americans again and not see them as natural resource wasting and war hungry people. I am moving to Europe in March and I want to go into a pub and not have to tell them I am a Canadian. There's nothing wrong with being a Canadian but I would not… Continue
