This morning there was a knock at my door. When I answered the door I found a well-groomed, nicely dressed couple. The man spoke first.

28 Tebet - (81 BCE) - Sadducees ejected from Sanhedrin
Shimon ben Shetach successfully completed the expulsion of the Sadducees (a sect which denied the Oral Torah and the authority of the Sages) who had dominated the Sanhedrin (supreme court), and replaced them with his Mishnah (loyal Pharisaic disciples), on the 28th of Tebet of the Hebrew year 3680 (81 BCE).
I'm an atheist trying to educate myself about a faith that my family fed me without knowing it's meaning.
I've been to church my whole childhood but never really cared..it all seemed so fake to me. As I got older, I figured I should probably learn what I thought was so fake...and I'm still an atheist. lol
I find that the more I learn about different beliefs, the more I know for certain how I really feel.
In that paragraph I was referring to the first couple of books in the old testament. Esp. Numbers.
It describes how God told Moses to pick certain people out of his tribe to be priests, warriors, etc. these were Jews...I mean, they lived in Israel and they practiced Jewish traditions. and like you said the old testament is basically the Torah.
I'm just a little confused as to how Christians are not Jewish..I know where they get their traditions from....hell everything comes from Paganism in this religion.
if the bible is their holy book...why is it pretty much the Torah with Jesus contradicting it?
my point was, if they were doing it wrong....why did God say they were doing it right? lol
