""Some of us are going to the hoe down."
My point exactly Jersy shore boy.
How many books have you read on biology? On cosmology? On physics? On evolution? On psychology? How many biographies have you read?
I'm a biologist so quite a…"
"For some reason It wouldn't let me respond to your last comment So i'll do it on this board.
"I'm not under any such impression about who the target audience is. The target audience does include Christians. It let's them…"
"Sorry but your analogy is just a LITTLE off.
We are all cloth wearing.
We all share the idea that people should not walk around naked.
But HOW to dress them?
You go completely off the track crashing and burning.
A single uniform? No and…"
"Ok I think I understand why my message is not getting through. You're under the impression that the billboard should only be made to reach out to people who are already atheists and not to everyone; religious and non alike. Try to put yourself…"
"@Larry: Good one. It's always nice to see someone able to recognize a not so subtle straw man coming.
@Reggie: On your first point I disagree. We ARE a uniform group in that we lack belief in a god or gods. We are also (usually) a uniform…"
"True but I'd say you were playing a game there. And one that may or may not end the way you want. Why not increase your chances of invoking thought and decrease your chances of being seen as insulting?"
"Very well put. The saying goes, "Getting atheists to agree on things is like herding cats."
It's our greatest strength and our greatest weakness. We think independently and so we can come up with many different ideas all at the same…"
"I realize it's a response however I've come to see that as a small part of the problem. The billboards and messages that get thrown in our faces only make us want to retaliate more. Why would it be any different if we did the exact same…"
Good idea but I think it's needlessly inflammatory. I'm not suggesting that we not offend anyone with the billboard but saying "Real men..." will make people shut off and can be construed as sexist. Why not put it,…"
I am an agnostic atheist. They are not mutely exclusive terms. Agnostic is an epistemological position of lacking knowledge of a god's existence and atheism has only to do with a LACK of belief and NOT the positive assertion (i.e. the belief) that a god or many god's do not exist. My agnosticism is the reason I'm an atheist. I do not know if a god exists or not so I have no reason to believe. http://www.youtube.com/user/themanofearth
Religion is a naturally occurring phenomena just like language, opposable thumbs, trees, or bacteria. As such it should be studied in earnest and recognized for what it truly is: The most subtle and powerful tool of legitimization and justification devised by the evolution of our species. And then it should be placed in a museum for all to see and appreciate for what it is.

Up until about a year ago I identified simply as Agnostic because 20 years ago a friends mom labelled me that way and for the same assertion of knowledge reasons that you are noting. When my understanding of Atheism changed, I changed with it. Using a Agnostic Atheist would change the landscape of conversation. I sometimes have to disarm the would be attachers because of the stand alone Atheist Label. If we could just go into the question of what that means when engaging a theist, then we would find less push back. So i can see how being specific is useful as well as accurate.
Welcome to TA Adam. I take it places have asked you to defend the Agnostic portion of how you identify. Here, we just want your conversation (generally, I can't speak for the other 5000 members). In general, what you are describing as a belief structure is what I've heard hear from most. Most of us have simply dropped the Agnostic portion for daily use. Either way, welcome and we'll look forward to your thoughts!
