Hi I'm an actor and writer most of my work has been up and down the West Coast. have questioned faith and religion since I was in 6th grade at my Catholic grammar school/Jr. High. "Came out of the pew" in my Jr. year of all boy Catholic High School (surprise I'm sure...). What else? I love the arts I've always been jealous of people who can draw, I love acting and singing, I became a writer in college for a short lived career in TV (though I plan to make it back one day) I enjoy learning and I love psychology (plan to go back to school and get a degree in it). My friends are family in my book and I will do just about anything for a good friend (I even went to church for one of my best friends once a week for a month; he had to read Flim Flam and God Delusion) I've found recently I am a Manga fan so far just of the online variety. I'm a huge sports fan oddly enough thanks to my affinity to New Orleans I love the Saints and my so cal L.A. Angels (the comedy is not lost on my religious friends) and a die-hard Laker fan. Want to know more just ask, I enjoy good conversation.
Why are you here?
I'm here to meet new friends really, It's rare to find good Atheist groups.
The religion you left
Why you left your religion.
I left for a myriad of reasons. When it was discussed sexual orientation made people bad or unloved it was the first time I thought this is not right at all. I wasn't gay but I had known a few gay friends and relatives who I cared for dearly and I wasn't about to listen to anything that said they were bad. So I struggled but held to the faith to appease my mother. We weren't a practicing family but she was afraid of what life would be like without that safety net. Then as a curious teen all the science I was learning went against my religious views so that moved me farther from the church one of my major arguments was when I found out how long it took the church to declare the world was round,1992 the Pope said it was wrong to condemn Galileo, if you can be wrong about that you can be wrong about A LOT; I figured.
Having an problem with the whole unquestioning faith made me finally walk away, I just couldn't do it I questioned too much. I went about studying all major and even quiet a few minor religions and found none were for me. "Came out of the pew" as an Agnostic my Jr. year; everyone called it a phase. Went on to choosing to be an Atheist my Sophomore year in college. I love studying religions and well just about anything else I can study. To steal a phrase from my buddy Joe "I enjoy mythology but I'm not religious about it".
