Only once do I get to use a topic that short. My name's Stu, I'm from Alaska and I grew up Lutheran, but I make a bigger deal out of being a former Buddhist. I'm a professional musician and an amateur…Continue
"The latter part of your contrast doesn't follow from the former. You could say that gods (beside not existing) preempt reasoned human justification yet enforce their laws through human authoritarianism. This goes into the case that it's…"
"Penn & Teller do an amazing job refuting anti-vaccination propaganda on Bullshit! Check them out. For starters, the origin of that myth is a guy who was paid off to write a bogus medical report discrediting vaccination. I'd tell you more,…"
"I certainly don't think there is "nonexistence" after death, as though your soul goes in a black box never to be heard from again, although I feel this is a common way to interpret the notion that there is not an afterlife. Frankly, I…"
"I don't see how it is forcing it down their throats. But then again, we are speaking of religious zealots who think that they are not forcing their views by saying women cannot use contraceptives, but if you for one second say anything that…"

Why you left your religion.
Why I left Buddhism is a much more important topic to me, mostly because Buddhism garners a lot of wholly undue respect among the secular community. In short, Buddhism is a death cult (like Abrahamic monotheism) for people who believe in reincarnation: you are called to achieve total spiritual obliteration in order to escape indefinite suffering by means of jettisoning everything conventionally considered valuable about your life and mind, and this, wickedly, is called true happiness.
