About Me:
I'm happily married with 3 beautiful girls! Right now I just got out of the Army and I'm focused on completing my degree. I was raised Assembly of God and Baptist; long story short it never made sense to me...and after getting over my 'out' fears..I'm a much happier Atheist..which in turn has helped me be a better person, wife, and mother. Other than that I love to ride horses, dance, swim, and really anything that includes my family. I hope to help change the 'face' of Atheism, by that I mean helping to rid (or try too) peoples 'fears' of Atheists'. I try to show other than you can be a good person, help your community, serve our country, raise polite but intelligent children, etc. Wow, so that's a mouthful...if your still reading..."Sorry"

Why are you here?
To help change the face of Atheism and get people to overcome their fears of 'us'...show a respectful (don't take that as a weakness) side that's not on a rampage just to piss off and antagonize the rest of the world. And I would love to meet other like minded individuals

Why you left your religion.
It just never made sense to me, but I went to a private Baptist school, and attended my family's Assembly of God church founded by my grandfather (a child molestor). People like to say I left 'god' because of the things my father did (followed his fathers foot steps); however; that is NOT why I left 'god'..I decided along time ago after thumbing through my little bible in sunday school. My teacher caught me reading other passages and I asked her about them...and her answer was "Re-read John 3:16..and behave" she was pretty upset. That was the moment that has fueled the last 20 yrs of reading the bible and searching. As a younger adult I attended church from time to time, however...my heart was screaming at me for being there...I just thought I was defective and that I needed to try harder to believe and see the 'right way'.. Once I realized that I didn't owe anyone anything and that if I don't want to follow this crap--I DON'T HAVE TOO!

Oath of Enlistment

Posted on May 16, 2009 at 2:30pm 18 Comments

I re-enlisted this past Thursday (14May2009). I have been in the military for over 6 yrs now, so I know I had to have said the words before....I guess I didn't pay that much attention to the entire oath previously. Now it has just been eating away at me!! Everything was fine until the very last sentence "So help me God". I cringed at the thought of saying this, however, I was on a stage in front of my entire battery and chain-of-command. I paused briefly, glanced at my husband, and uttered the… Continue

Hey if you have any ideas on how we can break misconceptions about atheism I am always open to new ideas and putting them into action.

Hey there and welcome to the site!
I know there is a group for military atheists. I think the name is Atheists in a Foxhole. Have a look around T/A and let me know if you need any help getting settled in.
