Agnostic Christian, meaning: refuse to be part of the know-it-all christian community, willing to question just anything about faith, but also refusing to 'know more than we can' - and following this Carl Sagan reasoning, cannot be a (strong) atheist.
I also always attempt to oppose all religious or ideological fundamentalism, irrational thought, and therefore by consequence also oppose the Richard Dawkins type of atheism.
I am always curious to find an interesting agnostic or atheist - I mean, one who thinks wide, not compartmentalized, but with a real open mind. I know too many bigots among the Christian community to call myself Christian just like that, and I know too many bigots among atheists to be without any suspicion with regard to atheism. I wished atheism would still be what it was before Harris & Dawkins: truly reasonable.
I refuse to see evolution theory as either a theistic or atheistic issue. No one has the right to hijack science to serve his or her personal agenda. Creationism is unscientific and theories from Intelligent Design are bad theories - but to reason from order TO Intelligence complies with the best insights in quantum physics today (The stuff of which physical reality is constructed is mind-stuff, George Wald; also compare Paul A.M. Dirac).
I am a proponent of free speech and the (politically) secular state. Everyone, including atheists, Buddhists etc. have a right to live their lives in any way - be it according to our Human Rights conventions. We have gone a long road to be where we are today as a modern society, let us agree on one thing: not to loose it when the next bigot comes along with a great rhetoric. Everyone can make mistakes, but no one has the right to have his or her facts completely wrong - whether that be in the name of religion or in the name of atheism.
Why you left your religion.
dogmatism is no good - be it dogmatic Christianity, dogmatic atheism or whatever.
