- I am a 25 year male who has lived in a predominately conservative christian environment for about two-thirds of my existence. I grew up being raised by both my single mom and my grandparents. I went to a Christian school from pre-kindergarten to seventh grade and was forced to go to church even into my high school days. I have been an atheist for about four, maybe five years now, and I have felt more peace in my decisions now as an atheist then I ever felt while involved in the church.

- I am here to learn new ideas, better myself, and develop my current ideas as an atheist. I also am here because I think there are people here who are straddling the fence and not quite sure of where to go after their decision of becoming an atheist. There are tons of people out there who are scared of burning that dogmatic bridge. People who are smart, well versed, and have a brilliant mind that has been shut off or warped due to years of repressive indoctrination. I am here because I want to see these people open their minds and use their words to change those around them for the better.

- Never in all my life have I felt more guilt, seen ignorance in more abundance, and witnessed the most rational of people do the most irrational of things, as when I was involved with the christian church. I have been a youth leader, a worship leader, and a counselor to post high school graduates, and I grew tired of the mindless propaganda that my superiors asked me to feed these hurting and confused people. The infinite tax shelters, the constant disregard of logic and reality, and the daily inflicting of remorse by the pastor on the very people that make his existence and well being possible, all made my experience within religion that much more tainted.

Looking back on my childhood it has become clear to me that there were five key people in my religious experience that kind of stood above the rest. These five key people in my life were people that were around me more than any really from my birth to around the age of seventeen. They were in no particular order: Mom, Dad, my grandparents from my Mother's side, and my brother.
