Profile Information

Your Religious Status
Atheist, Secular/Nonreligious/Agnostic/Atheist
About Me:
I dance on the rigid chains of a society lost in visceral triviality;
with discrete pessimism I flail gaily
while all sincerity, and authenticity
flickers in the dim recesses of the mind. . .

I am 20 years old and currently attend the University of New Mexico in the pursuit of a dual major in English, and Philosophy. I embrace Extreme Metal as a philosophy, and as a significant part of my being. I consider myself a student of Extreme Metal and consider it to be an "art music" more than a popular music. I am a Gnostic Atheist, and loathe the fanaticism of religious institutions. I find the idea of a supreme being uncomfortable, and disgusting. I've never considered myself to be spiritual either. I needn't look inside myself to realize my being for I have never been one to hide my self. I don't mind belief or spirituality as long as it's bounds are personal. I find that relationships with people are far more meaningful than relationships with an institution or the invisible. Politically I find that a socially free world is the only way we can abolish coercive slavery in all forms and defeat fanaticism. Economically I believe in personal responsibility to the fullest extent. I believe that we should hold people accountable for their monetary situation, but I also believe that a large part of personal responsibility lies within the realm of philanthropy. I enjoy reading, and hope to someday have my work read.

Why are you here?
Therefore he (man) rejects difficult things from impatience of research; sober things, because they narrow hope; the deeper things of nature, from superstition; the light of experience, from arrogance and pride, lest his mind should seem to be occupied with things mean and transitory; things not commonly believed, out of deference to the opinion of the vulgar.
- Sir Francis Bacon

Someday I hope man may embrace difficult things from patience of research; sober things because they necessitate action; the deeper things of nature because they are even more astonishing than superstition and the light of experience without the shroud of religion.
The religion you left
Was never a part of one
Why you left your religion.
The divine is God's concern; the human, man's. My concern is neither the divine nor the human, not the true, good, just, free, etc., but solely what is mine, and it is not a general one, but is -- unique, as I am unique. Nothing is more to me than myself!
- Max Stirner

Eskimo: "If I did not know about God and sin, would I go to Hell?"
Priest: "Not if you did not know."
Eskimo: "Then why did you tell me?"
