I'm a 30 year-old ex-Christian, living in a very, very small town in NW Florida. I have been married for nearly 8 years and have 2 children, ages 5 and 3.
I was a Christian for 28 of my 30 years, and I grew up in a very devout evangelical household. My father is a pastor and has a traveling ministry that consumes 100% of his time. My two youngest sisters are currently attending the Baptist College of Florida, and while we used to be very close I can feel them beginning to slip away from me ever since I stopped attending church. My relationship with my parents has deteriorated into a kind of civil tolerance, even though I don't think they know for sure I'm an atheist.
Why are you here?
I live square in the thick of the bible belt, and would like to find others that share my beliefs for not only atheism-related discussion, but also to make some like-minded friends.
The religion you left
Why you left your religion.
In the last few years of my time as a Christian, I began to have many questions, and the answers I was given by my father, my pastor and the bible did not satisfy them. I began my own amateur research into the bible, as well as biology and physics and slowly began to realize I could no longer justify belief in a god of any kind.
