"I think Pascal Boyer is the the most lucid of anyone working in his area.  Parts of Religion Explained gave me headaches because my brain had to work so hard to assemble the information -- but it was well worth the effort.   I'd…"

"Thank you -- glad you liked the chapter in the Loftus book.  It is, of course, oversimplified.  But it's a lot closer to reality than the explanations religion offers for the same phenomena ;). "

Why you left your religion.
Theodicy +++ I couldn't figure out how I was going to be perfectly, blissfully happy eternally while other people were being tortured. I am bothered by other people suffering now, and I consider that a good thing. +++ Heaven sounds insufferably dull. Whoever wrote the specs and prioritized streets of gold had obviously never experienced chocolate or old growth Sitka Spruce.

speaking of Loftus, he's going to be interviewed for Think Atheist's podcast in a couple or three weeks. do you think i might entice you to do the same at some point? i'm the show's "producer", for lack of a better term. Greg's the host. he blogs here if you're interested to see the sort of level he aims for.

anyway, no hard sell or anything. if you're willing let me know and i'll put you touch with Greg.

welcome once more. :)
