As a former hippy of the early seventies I can only say that the "hippie movement" back then was destined for failure. The ideology of love and peace was too far from the mainstream. And there wasn't a lot of cohesion or…"
I don't believe in a creator or any higher power. However I read a lot of Buddhist and Toaist philosophy. I use them as guides for life, because they help show ways to lead a better life. I don't believe them to be anything more than ideas. I believe one should be kind, love all lifeforms and be a good person.
I'm a little obsessed with Star Wars and Harry Potter (well maybe more than a little). I have two cats Obi Wan and Professor. I'm currently writing a fiction book about alcoholism.
Why are you here?
I like what think atheist has to say on twitter, so I thought I'd check the site out.
The religion you left
Why you left your religion.

Thanks for joining Healthy Atheists. I just began that group and look forward to learning more from others. I'm sorry to hear that you have such serious health issues given your young age, but at the same time you do seem to exercise a great deal and try hard to be healthy. I'm a vegetarian too. Have you joined Vegetarian and Vegan Atheists? What kind of drugs caused so many problems for you? I hope in time your health will improve... Keep in touch.
Hi Tom, thank you for joining Green Atheists and welcome to Think Atheist. You are rather young to be a hippie, but I suppose the label doesn't have anything to do with the 1960s necessarily, and more to do with the state of mind. I'm one too, but from those good old days...lol... I just joined your Hippie group. Hope more T/A members find out about it and join up as well. You might want to post a blog about your new group which should garner some additional attention and interest and advertise it as well. What kind of discussions are you interested in having in your new group? Looking forward to learning more about you, and seeing your posts in Green Atheists. Keep in touch.
