About Me:
i de-converted a couple of decades ago and am now a productive member of society. i went through an obtuse route of alternate religions, metaphysics, agnosticism, and finally agnostic atheism. my insight is heavily tinged with acerbity, and even sometimes wit.

Why are you here?
i'm not "here" per se. this site just appears on my monitor with high frequency, because it can!

but seriously, i went through the deconversion process a couple of decades ago, and i have a lot of experience living as a deconvert among the religiously-inclined. there's a potential for my having something to say that's at least moderately worthwhile for wherever you're at right now, especially if you're at the beginning of your deconversion.

feel free to ask questions and such. as i get a bit more free time to myself, i hope to be blogging about such issues both here and on dawnne.com.

~when dreams collide

The past several weeks have been a collision of dreams: a confluence of conflicting passions derived from the abandonment of one set of expectations and the establishment of another. I used to dream and plan of a life with a certain someone, retiring on one of the lakes in the northern midwest, traveling the world as our children grew into adulthood and perhaps only coming back to visit whenever they had children of their own that we could dote upon. I used to dream of simple things: gardening a… Continue

holy (or unholy) shit, i'm writing again!

i know, it's crazy. i've been such a stranger up here lately, and i probably will never be all that frequent. i'm scattered between too many things and too many people, and consistency on this particular level had never been my strong suit.

i dumped all my blogs and have started over again. i may decide later on to pull in some particular posts from my previous online incarnations, but right now have no specific plans to do so. Morgan has asked me to get involved with the Street Team, so with e… Continue

Philadelphia, December 29 & 30

Hey, fellow Heathens.

I'll be in the Philadelphia area (really Nazareth-ish, I guess) December 29 & 30 and the morning of the 31st. Let me know if you'd like to grab a beer or a bite to eat while I'm out there. I'd enjoy talking with some other like-minded people. There ain't too many of us out where I'm at.

Think Atheist Podcast IS Back

Hey, everyone.

First of all, I simply want to restate my commitment to keeping the Think Atheist podcast going. I have missed them very much, and the one I did weekend-before-last was a lot of fun.

I got a lot of feedback from some of you who were accustomed to them being on Sunday. Sunday was actually new to me. When I was co-hosting these at the beginning of the year, they were on Saturdays. I don't mind Sundays, but they'll have to be earlier, and then I probably won't be able to participat… Continue

No, you're not hallucinating

Yes, I'm really here. Actually logged in. I know; it's a great feat of daring. Whodathunkit?

I've missed you guys a lot this past few months. I've simply had a million things on my plate, and a bazillion things on my mind. Juggling them all has been an adventure, especially this summer.

I have become very active on Twitter (something on the order of 100+ tweets/day), an activity I refer to as an "addiction"....willfully and unapologetically. It is a great forum for people like me: I think in s… Continue

my grandparents used to live over in that neighborhood, they finally moved out after they had two or three meth labs catch fire in the same week.

The university's worse; it's all either frightening new-age people, or frightening evangelists. Deserts breed crazy like shit breeds flies, I guess.

haha, what is it with people from San Antonio living in Albuquerque? I've met at least two people here (at the university) from San Antonio as well. neither of them like it here either.

Thanks! I'm actually moving back to Texas come summer; living in the middle of east jesus nowhere is just too much. I'm from San Antonio, TX dangit, I like big hot smelly cities with liberal leanings and decent food.
