You've all heard the claim that we aren't really atheists, we are just mad at god. (Or you will see such things as "so and so claims to be an atheist.")Today, though I saw an argument in chat with a…Continue

Unlike what I usually do when I crosspost from my blog (where I simply paste the text in), I'll provide a TL;DR here because I want to highlight the thing I found really surprising.
In a Gallup Poll where they classified people into "very", "moderately" and "non" religious, and did this…

In most matters (with one exception I will get to), here’s my advice, one moving picture worth a thousand words:…

Dear Christian,
Well, you've heard it said... and I imagine many of you have said it yourself, exasperated with some atheist complaint about prayer in school or a creche scene in front of a courthouse: "It's freedom of religion not freedom from religion."
Well, actually it is both; you cannot…

*laugh* I only wish I'd thought of that at the time, but I actually gave up Catholicism when I was very young. Oddly, I do remember the date of the last time I went to confession.
Thanks for the welcome! Yes, I've just woke up to how Facebook and Twitter have been ruined. Once great spaces but no longer places to find actual conversation and well thought out expression of ideas. Everyone wants to scream out their opinions, but challenge them on it, with facts even, and you get trolled or loose a friend.
I remember a friend telling me that god would he;[ me through this and I said what kind of sadist is your god? He destroys your life so you can grovel for him to help you after he kicks you in the balls.
Thanks for the warm welcome Steve!
Thanks. My parents were never the religious type, and even though I tried gaining some semblance of faith back in my teens, it just never stuck...
Hey! Nice to see you again! Thanks for the "Welcome back." I appreciate it. Since I was one of the "old guard" or something and had gone quiet for at least 3 years, I was doubtful that anyone would recognize me. Good to see that there are still familiar faces here!
^_^
So, now that I'm done with undergrad work, and have about 2 years until I go for a PhD, and have my confidence back, I'm back online!
Thanks, man! I'm glad I decided to sign up.
