"Sure, you can make nice with the Christians. When people offer to pray for me, I just thank them. If they tell me something I disagree with, I disagree. Politely. That has little to do with my beliefs or lack thereof. That has to do with who I am. I…"

"Exactly, Esther! To go even further back, how does he know that he's experienced the actions or presence of ANY divinity? Then, having grappled with that question, we come to yours: How does he know that any divine act or presence he may have…"

"John, why should I "feel hesitant to reject" religions such as Christianity? That's a great question! The short answer is that because, once I reject them, I risk forever closing my mind to any possible truths, literal or…"

Dialogue With a Theist

I discovered and joined this website two days ago and started this blog that same day. In my first post, I explained that I turned away from Christianity as a boy because I came to find it "ridiculously implausible" but that I've nevertheless enjoyed discussing Christianity almost ever since. I called it "following my Campbellian bliss," even if I wasn't sure exactly why I felt this way about it.Well, a Facebook friend read my post and revealed that, unlike my starting out Christian and turning…See More

Why are you here?
Once upon a time, I attended the Nazarene church with my grandparents. But by the time I was twelve or thirteen, I "put away childish things." That is, I have come to see Christianity, particularly mainstream, fundamentalist, and evangelical Christianity, as a psychologically if not also rationally "immature" belief system. Yet, I continue to be fascinated by it and am even planning to write a counter-apolegetical book for which I'm hoping that this website can help me prepare.

In a proverbial nutshell, foundational Christian beliefs strike me as a proverbial crock of bovine feces.

I have too many blogs already, so why start another, especially when I'm neglecting most of my other ones as it is? I can't really answer that, except to say that it somehow manages to seem like a good idea at this time.

I'm fascinated by Christianity. I stopped attending church and considering myself Christian when I was still a boy. But I continue to marvel at how so many people throughout the world embrace or at least say they embrace the "faith," and I love to discuss…
