Your Religious Status
About Me:
I'm 33 years old. I have a wife, Laura 24, two kids, Emily 4 and Riley 1. I work for the USAF in Italy. I'm an amateur astronomer and I do satellite/network communications work.
Why are you here?
I'm here to meet like minded individuals and hopefully help stop the spread of idiotheocractic fundamentaldimwitism that seems to be taking over our schools and government.
The religion you left
Why you left your religion.
I was forced to go to church and speak on stage about the bible scriptures that I never really accepted. Once reaching legal age, I moved out and have been back to multiple different churches trying to find some semblance of "light" within them. I never found any real answers, only people saying i had to have "faith" that things would work themselves out. I found my answers on my own in my family and wife. I have been reading science journals and blogs and have completely lost any interest in religion after learning more of the universe and the world around us from free thinkers.

Questions for LDS

Posted on June 1, 2009 at 5:33pm 2 Comments

Why did the LDS church conveniently “forget” to include all of Brigham Young’s wives in the manual that was published about his teachings for use in Sunday School? At the very minimum don’t you find that to be a betrayal of those people whose ancestor was not deemed worthy of being mentioned? And how about all the other teachings such as Blood Sacrifice that Brigham Young also taught fervently in those days, that were left out? And how about the Mountain Meadows Massacre (a mass slaughter of… Continue

Infinity Zero

I'm not a math genius, but I had a thought come to me in a dream last night I thought was a little strange. Maybe I can get some input from people in the know.

Lets assume for a moment that Theists are correct in that God exists *cough cough*. I apologize for that lapse of judgement, but bear with me.... Since it is proven the universe is expanding we'll assume the Big Bang is also true. If "God" exists, he had to do it somehow, right? Theists say God is infinite... at least that's… Continue

Reverend Steve

Posted on May 12, 2009 at 1:14am 5 Comments

Back before i denounced all faith I became Reverend Steve. On the internet. For 15 bucks. I have a plaque, marriage certificates a book of wedding ceremonies and songs and a clergy parking poster for my car. I don't actually use that. I think i was subconsciously athiest at that time.

Look me up if you ever want to get hitched as an atheist. I guess i should start rewriting the ceremony.

Should I think of myself as morally deficient?

Elephant's Wings

Great analogy originally posted by PZ Myers:

Once upon a time, four blind men were walking in the forest, and they bumped into an elephant.

Moe was in front, and found himself holding the trunk. "It has a tentacle," he said. "I think we have found a giant squid!"

Larry bumped into the side of the elephant. "It's a wall," he said, "A big, bristly wall."

Curly, at the back, touched the tail. "It's… Continue

Anyone have a spare Jupiter?

From - Two Baylor University physicists believe they have an idea that can turn traveling at the speed of light from science fiction to science, and their idea does not break any laws of physics.

Dr. Gerald Cleaver, associate professor of physics at Baylor, and Dr. Richard Obousy, a Baylor post-doctoral student, theorize that by manipulating the space-time dimensions around the spaceship with a massive amount of energy, it… Continue
