Do people believe in religion mainly because of the incentive of immortality? Because as I look around me, many theists today say they believe in God and are "religious", but are anything but the…Continue
"I'd ask them if God was perfect and all-loving, then why did he create the devil? If he was perfect, then He'd predict that the devil would betray him, and if he was all-loving, then he wouldn't allow the devil to exist and wreak…"
"What a black and white answer! Only some do, actually. You could always find your theist friends and ask them, or go out of your way to actually meet theists and really find out from their perspective why they believe what they believe. Some will…"

"Yes.. it was the most efficient way because it offered the apes an avenue to not have to fear death so much. Essentially, to not have to think about the reality of the world around them in that regard."
I want to communicate with like-minded people and see their input on religion.
The religion you left
Why you left your religion.
I come from a conservative Middle-Eastern Christain family and I'm sick of religion being shoved down my throat. I love to question and do research, which is why when looking at the bible, many of the stories didn't make logical sense, and when the historical records poke major holes in it, I realized I had to make a choice: live truthfully or accept a mythological lie. I chose the former. I also have major issues with the Problem of Evil and an all powerful, "all good" God. If He had all the power and was all good, why did he create Satan in the first place: even before creating him, He would've known that Satan would betray Him, so why not only create him, but also let him have his own domain he could rule over? It simply doesn't make any sense to me.
