Was an evangelical Christian for over 30 years. Left with no bitter feelings. Only regret was that I spoke up over 20 years ago when I first realized that I didn't believe in the fairy tale. It's never too late to change though. I'm very content in my atheism. I don't hate religious people or even religion for that matter. I think it's a major waste of time but hey, I can waste time like the best of em so to each his own :-)
Why are you here?
I really like reading other people's experiences. I find it fortunate that I live in a time, and in a country where we can be this honest. Most of my family are Christian fundamentalists, so sites like these give me a good break!

Why you left your religion.
Pretty much all of the above. It was a long time coming. I had strong doubts at the age of 16. Almost 18 years later I finally got the courage to quit.
