- Eureka! One night it just came to me as if a bucket of cold water was thrown on me. "There is no God". I never felt so lonely, but relieved at the same time.
-While I didn't necessarily grow up in a Christian environment I did grow up Catholic, but decided to look for the "Truth" in my early 20s. I ended up venturing into Christianity and while it did seem to help me get through thick and thin it eventually wasn't what I was looking for. Christianity makes it seems like it's okay to not know, it makes you too dependent on the ever intangible faith. I didn't like taking a back seat in my own life so I looked for my own path. Being able to analyze everything around me with a critical mind gives me a much more appreciative, satisfactory view of the world.

First Communion thingy today

I don't know if any of you remember, but a while ago I mentioned be asked to be the Godfather for my nephew on his first communion. I reluctantly agreed, but after sometime to mull it over I guess it's not that bad. Anyways, the ceremony is later today. I was supposed to have confessed the day prior to have a clean soul when I receive the cracker, er- I mean the body of Christ. I forgot to though, oops! So I found out today my sister-in-law wants me to be the Godfather for my 14yr old nephew's first communion. I don't think she knows that I'm an atheist, but my brother definitely knows and I wondered why he didn't tell her being as loose lipped as he is. I know the church expects me to be a "confirmed Catholic" and I have received Eucharist so I could fake it, but it will make me feel like a total hypocrite. I certainly don't… Continue
