Your Religious Status
Atheist
About Me:
Just your average raging atheist really. Trying to stay as sane as possible in a crazy world.
Age
25-30
Why are you here?
I study Arabic at the University of London and will be spending the next year in Alexandria, Egypt as part of my course. I'd love to meet some free thinking Egyptian atheists, to get to know and maybe hang out while I'm over there.
The religion you left
Christian
Why you left your religion.
Because it oppresses people, because it is holding back the progress of mankind, because it teaches us to dumb ourselves down, because it teaches that sexism, racism, homophobia and violence can be justified, because I read the Bible for what it is, and because I found Dawkins.

Aside from night/gaming/sport clubs, boat rides, swimming, fishing, some other activities, that's pretty much it for me. There hasn't been a regular atheist/skeptic meetup that I know of in Alex, but there have been a few people here and other groups on FB that are interested in such a meetup. Yes, there's more activity in Cairo regarding atheist/skeptic/cool people meetups.

Oh, are you looking forward to become an ambassador or a spook with a diplomatic cover? Sounds exciting! :~)

For me let's just say a mixture of Cyber Intelligence, Security Architecture, and a lot of weird codes on a screen.. or something like that, they don't yet have a short name for what I do I guess. Nothing exciting, but it has its perks.

You come off pretty smart, I'm sure you will manage just fine. And no, not wishful thinking, Alex always been resistant to fundamentalism. Interesting that you are taking Arabic, doing MENA studies or general linguistics?
