"I do not feel obliged to believe that the same God who has endowed us with sense, reason, and intellect has intended us to forgo their use." Galileo Galilei

I don't believe that this is a quote that can readily be overlooked. Indeed, if there is a god, and he created us in his image, then wouldn't he use his intellect, reason, and continuing knowledge to question himself as the great french philosopher Descartes did when he wrote,"I think, therefore I am."? Why shall we ever believe in something so profound as to never question it, and to blindly follow it with such fervor? It is too easy to speak of such things with confidence on an atheistic…See More

Christopher Hitchens Day at Anywhere that one might find a glass of Johnnie Walker Black

April 13, 2013 all day
Celebrating and remembering the life of Christopher Hitchens on the date of his birth, April 13th.  Let's lift a glass of Johnnie Walker Black, with a splash of Perrier, to the Bard of Atheism. If you smoke, a standard cigarette will do but a fine Cuban Cigar would be a tribute.See More

"StevelnCo. I'm not sure if Romney takes it that seriously. At a recent speech he said he was more into sports than church when growing up. Then again, he did posthumously baptise his uncle into the Mormon religion.  "

Why are you here?
The lobbying power of religious sects in ratio to atheists' lobbying power is abhorrent! No one in politics dares to profess their atheism, although, statistically, there must be. We need to band together!

Why you left your religion.
I obtained knowledge. I was agnostic for a while, but the moment I realized my atheism was extremely liberating and I will never forget that moment.

Prior to science, superstition conquered. Aristotle believed that objects in motion slowed because they simply became "tired." God was reason for all, and all was reason for God.

Due to brilliant minds we have emerged from these opaque ages of knowledge. Newton enlightened us with mathematical logic in the 17th century. He also enlightened us with knowledge of optics,…
