My father, who is also a martial artist and owns the school i used to teach at, used to say, "a jack of all trades is a master of none". I kind of disagree though. I think branching out and getting many different takes on martial techniques and philosophy has helped me to see what I want and don't want in my own training. I kind of got tired of styles and forms and insignia and all the other dogmatic stuff that comes with too many martial arts schools these days. There's plenty of time in life to taste a little bit of everything.

Ha ha, sweet. Full contact is cool. Is that a similar style to Kyokushin kaikan?

I started in Tang Soo Do at 5. Trained regularly until I was about 15. Took a few years off and got back to it. I earned a 3rd dan rank, but realized along the way that I find most Korean styles very lacking and not progressive at all. I've since trained here and there in Wado Ryu, Isshin Ryu, Nihon kai Jujutsu, a little bit of Shotokan, and Okinawan Kobujutsu. It's been 21 years now that I've been into the martial arts, though honestly I haven't trained much since last July when I moved to Colorado. I'm hoping to find time to start training again, but my astrophysics program has had me pretty busy.

You say you're traveling right now? Where abouts have you been?

My father was recently in Okinawa for a trip to visit one of our instructors (Nakimoto Kiichi). My girlfriend and I have been discussing a trip. From what I know I can see there being some things about Japanese society that I would really enjoy and some things that I wouldn't enjoy as much, but I think it would be an awesome trip. I was in Korea when I was 9, but otherwise I haven't seen anything of asia.

Hey, thanks for the add as well. The weather is weird here in Boulder, Colorado. Today it was sunny and warm, but up in the mountain which is right next to us there's a lot of snow and it's freezing cold... I've never been to Japan. I learned a little bit of basic Japanese, but it's mostly martial arts related.

thanks for the comment, my theory is about why the universe is not just rxpanding but expanding faster, it also ties up dark matter and energy.
