- My name is Rudy Lugeons, I've been Married for 14 years to my love Noah Lugeons, I am currently living in New York. I am hoping to make many friends among you like minded individuals and look forward to getting to know you all. Glad to see quite a few Ladies here. I'm the only female Atheist that I personally know. Unfortunately, I didn't start out that way... Here's a bit of my story....I grew up in South Ga AKA The Bible Belt, my folks threw me on the Baptist church bus that circled the hood on sundays when they wanted to get me out of the house and while living with my grandmother I was forced to go to her Church of God practically every day of the week and some nights. My first "episode" of being skeptical regarding the whole religious thing was when I was about 8, after my cat died I had to go to church so I ask my sunday school teacher if "smokey" would be in heaven waiting for me when I died too... The answer was " Of course not, animals don't have souls" Perhaps she just liked hurting children's feelings or spoke without thinking but right then I had doubts of rather I wanted to go to a heaven where God wouldn't let me have Smokey back, what a mean god not to give animals souls, he did after all create them too.... didn't he? By the time I was 12 and went to live with my Grandmother I really wasn't all that sure about religion... sure I prayed wen I really wanted something to happen, wanted someone to get over an illness or of course I always laid my head down to sleep and prayed the Lord my soul to keep, but I wasn't sure about any of it... My common sense even then was warring with what I was being told. Stepping into this new church for the first time I was overwhelmed by people talking in tongues and shaking all over the ground and screaming and fainting... oh my!! Not gonna lie, kinda freaked me out.... After a month or so of going to church every Sunday morning, sunday night, wed. and thursday nights and the occasional Church trip, I grew weary and aggravated by it all... So naturally I refused to go. My Bad. My grandmother made me go, and upon arriving she took me directly to the Pastor in front of the congregation and told him I had Demons in me... Demons. Well, the good Pastor needed to excise the Demons didn't he, and on came the crazy talk and red faces and shaking limbs.... I stood frozen, that is until he attempted to tap me in just the right spot on my forehead to release said demons... Epiphany... That's what I had... If going to church and praying constantly weren't enough to make me take Jesus Christ into my heart, well by God they were going to scare him into me. I promptly told him and everyone else that could hear that if there were any demons in that place it was them, that there is nothing wrong with me, you people are Nuts... didn't go over so well with Grams, but I didn't have to go back to Church again, not that I would have. I took it upon myself to experience and study many religions after that and decided, you know what I don't believe in any of these, I've been an Atheist ever since. Some have told me that it was bad experiences forced on me by others in my youth and that god still loves me... but no, that's not it at all... I don't think any of it ever really made sense to me and regardless of my past experiences I base my beliefs, or lack there of on plain, simple facts and rational thought. There are no talking snakes, invisible deities or streets of gold way up high in the sky where I can't see... Why isn't there? Because it's fucking STUPID, makes no sense even to an under educated person such as myself. So, there you go, that's me... I love to laugh and be myself, I like to curse and smoke... I'm a laid back kinda girl who just wants to be herself and enjoy other people who do the same. Feel free to ask me questions, debate me, befriend me.... or not. :) Thanks for reading.

- Because I came across this site doing a little research, and I didn't have anything going on. Because at times I feel like I'm the only girl out here who thinks for herself (sorry ladies, no insult intended but us Atheist Chicks are few and far between in my experience)
