"Congrats on fatherhood! Although the second couplet might not work.  I don't think the 'little star' referenced in the song is the sun, even though the sun is a little star."

Twinkle Twinkle Little Star

This week I celebrated the birth of my first child with my wife. My wife has taken to singing to her, and one of her favorite songs to sing is Twinkle Twinkle Little Star. The other day I got to thinking that the lyrics are quite outdated, as we now know exactly what a star is. So I endeavored to create some new, more accurate lyrics. Let me know what you think.Twinkle twinkle little star Made of hydrogen you areWay beyond our atmosphere An orbit 'round you is a yearTwinkle twinkle little star…See More

An idea for arguing with Christians

I had the thought today that the bible verse John 14:13 - "And whatsoever you shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son"(Jesus) would be a great way to stump a Christian. Tell them that they should ask Jesus to convert you right then and there. Although I don't expect any sort of logical response, it begs the question why a believer can't get Jesus to perform a fundamental act of Christianity for someone who is trying to spread the "good news".See More

A thought experiement

I had a though today that I won't propose as having any scientific basis whatsoever, but could possibly be a good question to kick off a thought experiment just to see where the path would lead: what if we considered DNA as a virus that infected the earth?

Was I too harsh?

I am an atheist who has made the decision to be as educated as possible about my choice. I listen to debates, I am in the process of reading the bible and I read all that I can concerning both sides of the debate.

At the point that I am at in life, I could lose a lot of relationships should I actively come out as an atheist, but I am upfront and honest in every way and generally bring up my beliefs (or lack thereof) only when asked. One point that I take pride in is using my…
