Sure Mr. Rogers was a Presbyterian minister, but he taught tolerance before faith. Fundamentalists hated him at times since when asked to castigate non-Christians or gays he would respond “God loves you just the way you are.”Sure we may not believe in God, but I do believe strongly in tolerance.Sweater day you just wear your favorite sweater to show respect to Mr. Rogers on his birthday on March 20th.See More
Openly atheist rather call myself a humanist though. Live in Southern Kentucky loves me some bible belt society. Most of my friends(12 of them) have moved out of Kentucky and spread out all over the U.S. Kinda feeling lonely now though.
Mountain Goats, Cursive, The Good Life, Bright Eyes, Regina Spektor, Nine Inch Nails, Rage Agians't the Machine, The Mars Volta, Sublime, I'll add more later.
Why are you here?
Trying to find the place I belong in this world.
The religion you left
Why you left your religion.
I was a member of the FCA and even lead morning prayers before school started. I originally started drifting away due to all the hypocrisy I saw in the halls. Eventually this led me to a more agnostic life style. I just couldn't grasp how god could send people I knew who were genuinely good people to hell. Yet let all the douche bags I knew from FCA go to heaven. That is when it all fell apart and my love of science replaced the void religion left.
Now I'm a militant atheist in the bible belt. I get lots of looks and people around here cannot grasp the idea that I'm atheist I'm just to 'good' to be.
