I am a retired professor of sociology, criminal justice and criminology. Also, former official (P5) at the United Nations Secretariat at the United Nations Office in Vienna, Austria. I am 79, but in good health, all things consideered. I currently live in Costa Rica, my country of birth, but I am a citizen of the US of A. Was born and brought up as a Catholic, but I started drifting away when I was 12, after reading an abridged version of Darwin's The Origin of Species. By 16 I was no longer Catholic and had become an Atheist.
Why are you here?
Because I believe we, Atheists, should come out of the closet, not in an aggressive way, but firmly and proudly.
The religion you left
Why you left your religion.
Because I found the basic beliefs and dogmas to be utterly absurd, and could not suscribe to Pascal's 'credo qui absurdum'. I believe we humans should stand on our two feet instead of leaning on faith and dogma.
