About Me:
32 year old mom from Texas. I love reading and arts, photography, and computer stuff. I love my children and my fiance & just want to be the best mom and person possible for them. And yes, being from Texas and being a nonbeliever is rather difficult.

Why are you here?
To learn & to find others to relate to as a mom without worry of condmenation for being "different."
The religion you left
Why you left your religion.
I grew up a Christian (Methodist), but I come from a pretty liberal upbringing. My mother is a democrat & was never forceful on believing a certain way. I grew up with church and prayer, though, and all throughout my life feared death, yet through my suffering of clinical depression and dealings with suicidal thoughts and actions, oftentimes craved it all the same. Over time I began to question more and more the belief that some spiritual creature--a creator of all things--could possibly exist, and as time went on, and I woke up the fact that it wasn't prayer or god that helped me through the darkest times in my life, but was simply MY own will to get up and go on, I realized how silly the entire religious ideology sounds. Of course I began to read and research and learn through science, and eventually everything made any belief in any such being completely obsolete. I am happier now, and I feel freer in that I no longer worry that I may not be "good enough." I have morals based on my own empathy for those less fortunate and those that suffer, and I know based on the idea that in order for society to continue, morals must JUST BE. Right and wrong need not come from a book written by men, but need to come from within one's own heart. I am no longer confined to religious indoctrination.
