I went to aa for as long as I needed, to help me break some bad habits. It helped that I did this in NYC, God was not the primary higher power. I was atheist then and a good percentage of the other ppl there were also, (as I said this was in NYC). The higher power that was mentioned most was the power within the person, after all who is most responsible for our actions? It's not god. I picked and chose the parts of the program that were relevent to me. I did not have a sponsor. I did ask forgiveness of some people that mattered to me. I avoided the people, places, and things that were triggers. I tought about the slogans, one day at a time, I only have to get through today etc.

I've found that everywhere else, people are more religious, meaning that I attended meetings outside of NYC and it mattered not where and the higher power became god, I did not go back to those meetings. So you may have a support problem. Do what you feel you need to do, ask help from people that you believe can.  You only have to get through today.

My suggestion is to get out of NA.  People sober up when they are ready.  AA and NA have a "success" rate that is precisely the same as the percentage of people who simply decide to stop using.  Frankly, you are better off with weed than these idiots.  If you really want to quit, you will.  Most people with a problem have some physical or mental need that the substance helps with.  For example, many alcoholics crave the sugar in the alcohol as much as anything and switching to sugary soda helps with the transition--once they have made up their minds to quit.

Robin, I'm sure there are others here that are or have been through those programs. I will do some digging and see if I can find someone you can speak with. In the meantime please email me if you need to chat.
