I've found individuals here that aren't really atheists, but maybe I'm not either. I didn't have a thing to do with choosing the word 'atheist', it just seems to be the most widely recognized label I…Continue

You gotta love the irony of this rationale. Although, on the too-many times it's been yelled in my face, I wasn't able to really appreciate the subtleties. I was just trying to not react in a less…Continue

What if religion wasn't such an intrusive, powerful and malicious organized system; interwoven through the fabric of our society? What if it didn't have the insidious influence on the masses that it…Continue

A quick Google led me to Wikipedia who says the current count is 4,200 religions operating in the world today. That's a lot of different stories. That's a lot of different ways to live your…Continue

Religious imagery and the word of god have been in my face all of my life. Religious themes and symbols are everywhere. You see them in movies, television, social networks, schools, government buildings, bumper stickers, and fish-emblems on cars. Folks dress in religious clothing such as yarmulkes, turbans, robes, veils and burkas. All year long, there are religious holidays with religious music and even religious toys and candy for the kids. I am forced to…

This is awesome! There's no way I could bring up the subjects I do here, and get intelligent responses back from my friends on Facebook. I am really glad I found ThinkAtheist, and you good people.
Atheists aren't necessarily smarter than other folks, but they are one step closer to being realistic about life. That's a big plus in my mind.
For me, it's not necessarily the harshness, but the bare-bones truth, the chance, capriciousness and randomness of this existence that is…

This is my last report regarding
my mission to evaluate the beings of this world.
Thirty of this planet’s orbital cycles ago
I arrived here by Refracted Linear-Light/Fold.
Since then I have lived, worked, and played alongside
these beings in the guise of one of their own.
Universal Protocols remain intact.
I have had no ill-effect nor have I…

As a child, it was as if I'd been shoved into a huge cathedral packed wall-to-wall with billions of people, and everybody was wearing a hat. Up on my tip-toes, straining to look out over the heads of the crowd, I saw a massive turbulent sea of hats of all shapes and colors. Although the hats themselves were quite vivid, everyone's face was blurred.
Everyone in the crowd was proclaiming their hat to be the best hat to…

Hi Rick,
Welcome to TA. Your report from off certainly has a textbook sense of humor but does ring clear with it's message. If only the occasional theist could absorb the truth of your report.

Hey Rick, thanks for the add, welcome to TA
Welcome indeed :)
Thanks for the add. Your "Hat" story reminded me of something I said in a debate recently - if I was the only Atheist in a room with a million theists - I would still think they were all....misguided. See you about TA..
Welcome to Think Atheist.
