About Me:
I am personally agnostic and politically atheist. I work as a writer for a non-profit organization, own a dog, drink excessively, enjoy cooking, and moved back to Gainesville in August of 09 after getting divorced. I finished my MA in Rhetoric and Composition in May of 08 and I am the only English graduate degree-holder I know who is a Libertarian. Hobbies include the aforementioned cooking and drinking, reading (especially reddit, political theory concerning issues of freedom, regulation, and government and corporate abuses of power, comic books, science fiction, and books on writing and literary theory), science fiction movies, music (generally under the rock/heavy metal umbrella but I like many artists that fall outside of said grouping), sitting in small, smoky bars, watching animation, going fishing, to the dog park, to the beach, camping, and target shooting when I can afford to do so, and being moody. Genetically I'm Irish but I was raised and am culturally Cuban. I am coming to terms with the fact that my combination of interests, politics, and background make me an odd and often intolerable person by most people's standards.

Why you left your religion.
I was "raised" Roman Catholic but was never a believer. I have always had an affinity for science and a huge distrust of any behavior based on faith, emotionality, or sheer sheep-like mentality, so religion and most affective/arbitrary allegiances (political parties, self-help nonsense, desperate adherence to a "scene" or style, etc) of any sort disturb and alienate me quickly.

Thanks for the invite! I really did enjoy your post; it is rare to find intelligent originality that does not devolve into esoteric rambling.

Just curious, but what does an MA in Rhetoric and Composition entail? Although I am still chipping away at my BA, I am already trying to scope out the direction of my master's.
