Cool - I suppose you have to do some blanket-bombing when it comes to spreading the word with these petitions! And likewise - good to catch another Brit around. Well done on your involvement in your society, too!
I'm Welsh, I'm a student at Southampton University studying acoustical engineering. I'm treasurer of the atheist society here and also in a wider role im the regional representative of Wales to the AHS (National Federation of Atheist, Humanist and Secularist Societies) as well as the particular representative for our society in Southampton.
Music is a big part of my life, i listen to music almost constantly and if im not ive generally got a song in my head. i listen to lots of different music ranging from indie to metal to folk to blues and everything in between, ill give anything a listen. i play drums, guitar, ukulele and i mess about on my sisters piano when im back home :-)
the other big part of my life i guess are my atheist and political views, i love to read books on atheism/atheist philosophy e.g. dawkins, dennett, hitchens, harris, etc
politically im a liberal and big supporter of freedom of speech and human rights which tends generally to be opposed by the religious, obviously not all religious people oppose these views but the people who do are rarely atheist and the reasons are rarely secular, in fact probably never thinking about it.
anyway ive rambled on a bit i think thatll do!
oh, i also love to play poker :D
Why are you here?
to meet other atheists i guess ...
The religion you left
Was never a part of one
Why you left your religion.
my parents werent religious but never forced atheism on me, i was exposed to christianity at school as everyone is in the uk pretty much, but from the age of about 8 or 9, or maybe younger im not entirely sure, i realised it was all a bit ridiculous.
