Have exited cocoon, after undergoing a lengthy metamorphosis, and am now beginning to stretch my wings and re-evaluate my formerly two dimensional and colorless perceptions of the world.
Why are you here?
To commune with other's who have abandoned belief and continue the process of personal development and enlightenment.
The religion you left
Why you left your religion.
Firstly to escape people who were just play-acting. Unfortunately I was converted at a very early age and believed only that I wansn't trying enough. Having attained all I wanted, I realized that noone else really believed it at all and therfor tried to hold on to my faith even if noone else believed it by escaping from other cristians. Finally I realized that outside of the context of the church, my religion and spiritualism was just vain fantasy. At this point I saw it as useless and saw in fact that attaining what the Bible told you to attain had the inevitable result of causing you to reject it since neither it, nor god, nor the other believers could did not meet the standard set for it. And finally, the farther away I got, the more I realized that I was not becoming worse off (spiritually) but better off -- more sane and less fearful, more compassionate and accepting of others. So finally, becoming an atheist caused me to also reach that final standard, a compassionate lover of people and the world as a whole, at peace with the world and himself.
