- I was born to Muslim parents, who fortunately were never too strict about religion, though I have de-converted very recently. I ‘faltered’ a bit in my early life but always went back to the dogmatic believes. Over the years I transformed from a practicing Muslim to a non-practicing one (which was a periodic cycle) and then mutated into an Islamist apologist before I finally evolved into a liberal freethinking humanist atheist. And that was quite a relief.
I am from Pakistan where I spent almost my entire life and am currently living in an even more orthodox Islamic country. Thus I choose to remain anonymous and in the closet, not because of social ostracization, but because fear of my and my family’s life.
Ever since I left religion I feel more comfortable about everything. I don’t hate myself that often as I did before, have become more curious, I try to enjoy life, have few qualms about sexuality & death (too biggest taboos in my opinion). I enjoy reading books (that is when ever I can get time these days), love to write as well a bit. Art, painting, movies, and photography fascinate me and so does music.
I discovered this site a while ago and joined in to meet like-minded individuals with whom I can interact, share ideas with and learn from.
